That is pretty bad eyesight. You know even though you may still have to wear glasses you could still have the surgery to reduce your prescription. Means much thinner lenses. Even at -5 I hated my lenses in my glasses and it cost a fair bit extra for the thinner glass.
I actually can't wear glasses -- they're so heavy they are painful, even with high index lenses. I wear contacts and have to just make the best of it. It wouldn't be worth it for me to pay for the surgery and still wear contacts every day.

Interesting to read through - I have one very lazy eye - about read the Sun headlines and the other needs glasses - One thing it might cure is neck-ache. I normally wear bi-foculs and everyting out shopping always needs odd head angles to read - same goes for the screen if I haven't remembered to change my glasses to ones designed for computer use. Viewfinders are a pain with glasses as the field of view is stated at about 94% and much less if you have specs on. Hope all goes well for you.
A teacher of mine had it done and he was telling me that not everyone can have it for diffrent reasons theirs also jobs that won't take you if you've had it done. I woulden't do, don't like anything to do with touching or mucking about with my eyes
