I'm off to cornwall for a few days, haven't been for years (about 15 or so I'd guess!) and can't remember much, so basically asking after any good spots for photography really . I'll be in the southern end around redruth/truro area but have car so getting around to those far off bits probably wont be a difficulty...
I do recall some 'lost garden' type place but forget its name but also hoping for some dramatic coastlines to perch from (weather permitting!). Oh and I believe now is the time for Seals to come in onto the beaches, this was a place I've forgotten where, that you can stand on the cliff and peer down on them lounging on the rocks and sands below (out of the way to let them get on with they seally lives)

If you find any places let me know

Let's hope the weather picks up.

Truro isn't the best. Try outside Newquay such as Crantock, Hollywell bay. You could take a trip to the Eden Project.

For some ruff sea shots though Newquay beaches have the cliffs. Lustyglaze is a really nice small beach surrounded by cliffs.

Lost Garden is probably Heligan.

If wet, there's always the Eden project.

For seals, there's the sanctuary at Gweek.

For scenery, there are loads of beaches!

For pasties, there's Pengenna Pasties in Tintagel (and other branches but I don't know where) - while there, check out the beach and castle).

The Lizard has some good cliffy bits - but so does most of the county.

back, found loads and took a few shots too! managed to see some suggestions before I headed off, many thanks! :)

now having an issue with an SD card refusing to be found by the computer via card reader and through the camera...yet the camera itself shows them nicely...any ideas?

just download them from the camera, card readers are an un-necessary waste of plastic anyway..imo
Chances are its the card reader, go naked and be proud...:)

thing is the card reader is part of the monitor...a dell 24" works fine it is the card.
and as mentioned before i can see the card through the camera but not through the computer.

Thats tricky then, does the pc see a different card fitted in the camera, just to check it isn't a global thing with the pc.

no, its the card...I'll have a fight with it and see how far I get this evening...I'm not losing the 2-300 odd images without a fight anyway!!

Lost gardens of Heligan - also plenty of other gardens - Trebah is stunning!

Several places for seals - try Godrevy as a starting point ;)

North coast for rugged Atlantic storm beaches and cliffs.

South coast for more gentle beaches.

Kynance Cove on the Lizard is beautiful and very photogenic - plus you go past Goonhliiy earth station en route which can be worth a detour.

Tin mines make for classic shots, lots around, both inland and on the coast.

HTH, Alan

p.s. If you have any more specific ideas of what you want to shoot, just ask and I will try to find you some good locations :D

cheers hooky, got some shots at a few of the places you mentioned, will keep them all ready to go for next time!

managed to get pictures off the dodgy card...wont be using it again I think. had to USB across from camera, luckily 1d cameras come with wall-socket power leads so left it on and took dog for walk :)

Oops, didn't realise you had been already :lol:

Oldgit, Gwithian is a stunning beach. The area you mention for seals includes Godrevy :) Great minds, or fools seldom.....
