I am holidaying in Cornwall (haven't been there since 1970) for the next couple of weeks (Sept 2010). I am staying near Tintagel for a couple of days then heading to the south coast at Mevagissey for a week.
Can anyone recommend a couple of places to visit in either of those areas that offer good photo opportunities (weather depending). I would like to capture sunrise or sunset as well as other landscapes'

Thanks

The Lizard Peninsular is a good bet. I have done a whole day before from sunrise to sunset just in that one relative small spot. Starting on the eastern side of it, somewhere like Coverack you can get some cracking sunrises, then just drive around the coast, a lot of the little coves and villages are down dead end roads but often worth the effort. Ending the day with sunset at St Michael's Mount in Marazion. Bit of a long day this time of year so maybe not the best idea but that area is generally cracking at any time of day.

:agree:
Also try
Bedruthan Steps for sunsets on the north coast.
Botallack tin mines and Porth Nanven Nr St Just on the road to Lands end

With the western Cornish coast you are spoilt for choice, you can point the camera anywhere more or less, just need some interesting weather and light.

I know a few coves around bude if you wanna hit me up for drinkies/landscapey fun. Though I reserve the right to throw any nikons I see into the sea

No Nikons here Dave!!

Canon 5d mkII, 40-70 2.8L and 70-200 f4L with amateur status only.

I like the idea of the tin mines unfortunately no Lizard visit this time, perhaps some time on the Roseland peninsula.

Hi Mick well be passin through Tintagel and stopping off there on the 11th sept, on our way to Looe where were staying for a week, polperro is a nice little fishing village as said landsend and around there are good and theres the Minack theatre (open air)

Although I intend to do some walking on holiday.. nothing too strenuous... not averse to driving to a good location though!!!

As I am a late starter in photography (several months) I would like all the help I can get... If you are around later this week and can give me a steer I would appreciate it..

Thanks

Mick

I'm gonna be in the shop 11-4 all week so if you wanna come play I'll take camera kit and stay in town once it shuts :D

I reckon North Cornwall coast for seascapes, East for boats in harbours etc.
although Port Isaac & Padstow would produce some good boat shots, i'm there in 2 weeks can't wait, First thing is to get a Barnecutt's inside me !!

if you can travel a bit to penwith...there are good moors there and old mines

Phil,
I like your photos some really dramatic seascapes. But it doesn't really answer my question of suitable locations around Tintagel and Mevagissey.

Thanks

I have made it to Cornwall staying in Tintagel until Saturday. Unfortunately limited Internet, iPhone only when signal permits.
Are you still happy to show me landscape photography?

Visited Trebarwith Strand last night, not the most spectacular of sunsets and my results make it look even worse. Better luck at Boscastle today... couldn't find the castle though.

Sat in a pub in Tintagel with the worst internet connection ever... never mind it is free..
