What`s good, photography wise down near newquay? Looking for landscape stuff (early morning, catching the sunrise sort of stuff)

Only been there on a stag weekend, and don`t remember a lot of it!

Just booked a weekend down there and thought I`d crack onwith some pre visit research.

Cheers.

Have you booked to stay in The House In The Sea? That would give you some fantastic views

As for what to shoot, loved the small harbour there with the restaurant overlooking.

There is a small village up North (I'm not too sure of its' name, I think it's something like Pesto), you'd need to drive there. It's about 30 minutes dirve on B roads, beautiful scenery and the village has some really good places to eat by Rick Stein.

There is another nice location, has a restaurant by Jamie Oliver (Fifteen Cornwall) as well. That, too, was a nice place to eat and shoot from.

Just found out the name of the village, Padstow. Just type that into Google Maps and you'll see where it is. Also, on the Rick Stein site, there is a map of the village.

Croyd and Staunton are too very local beaches which for me are nicer than Newquay itself.

Newquay`s just the base of operations really, we`ve all got cars so travelling isn`t an issue...

On the way down take time to go to Dartmoor. If you go to Lydford there is a gorge there and afterwards you can take in Brentor Church ( a church on a hill) nice in itself to photograph but also wonderful views. There is so much to see and it wont take you too far off your route if you are taking the A30. Much is dependent on the weather of course.

Eden isn't far from there, too! I wanted to pay it a visit but by the time I got there they were closed :(

Thanks guys! Much appreciated, it always helps to to hear from someone with a bit of previous experience. Cheers!

I`m off to make an itinery...

worth driving to mousehole, a beautiful harbour with with stunning views

the whole coast from newquay down to st ives is pretty good to trek and shoot
godreavy light house are and the sands at hayle
there is a hill near carbis bay called trencrom and gives good views of the surrounding countryside

Newquay is too commercialised in my view but if you go a bit further up to Trevone Bay,it's a superb little cove/Trevose Head , i used to live in Nth Cornwall and the north Cornish coast is littered with superb little places towards Bude with places like Port Isaac, Tintagel, Trebarwith Strand (very dangerous at high tide), Crackington Haven.
i'm going down in August can't wait ! hope you have a great time.

Bedruthan Steps is just up from Newquay, great place for some nice photos.
