Lands end is nice.
Porthlevan.
St ives.
Daymar bay is a wonderful beach, it's near wadbridge. A bloke got out of his car beside me when i was rigging up my windsurfing kit. I looked at him and said jeez you look like Douglas Hurd! He said Thats because I am!!
It's also near Padstow where you can be screwed with your trousers on by buying one of Rick Steins fish and chip suppers.
Penzance is nice near St michaels mount.
Erm....
Perranporth is worth a visit.
Newquay is a *hit hole imo Actually it's just a *hit hole anyway.
The landscape between Portreath and Perranporth is very Cornwall. Rugged lots of mines, capped mine shafts plus grated ones.
Heartlands will have opened by then and that will be worth a visit.
Bring a bigger belt, the pasties here (hot or cold) are the best in the country bar NONE. More than happy to fight anyone who disagrees.

Timely thread. I'm off to stay at Perranporth next week, with a first floor view directly overlooking the beach. 
Unfortunately it's a family trip (well, me and my non togging girlfriend), including dog, so my freedom to explore and seek out good light may be limited, but any suggestions wil be gratefully received here too. Anything will do - landscapes, wildlife, sports, music, other events. TIA.

Very pretty beach.
There may be a firing range there so be careful if you walk from perranporth.
Thinking about it best drive lol, it's a long beach and the tide comes up v high.

HI Lynton,
May is a fantastic time to be in Cornwall.
Have a look at the area around the Minack Theatre (Porthcurno, Treen, etc). There are some great places around there. The theatre is worth a visit on its own. It's an unbelievable place unless there is a storm.
I also like the area around Cape Cornwall & the Crowns but the cliffs are getting a bit crumbly. It was a bit hairy getting a shot last time I was there from this viewpoint!

Staying at a farm near bodmin called Coombe mill.
Any advice on the best beach location nearest to there? I don't know if i'll get much chance to do landscapes as i'll have a wife and 2 kids with me but maybe one morning i could

I spent my first 21years living in Cornwall and go back every year to visit family, i'm down the first week in May also and always head for this spot.

Porth Nanven is near St Just, only 50 yards from the car park so no risky climbing involved and this was at sunset. Please don't be tempted too load the car boot up with the boulders from the beach as most on holiday seem to do

Oh Cape Cornwall Golf Club - what do you think my chances are of smuggling the golf bats into the car as well as all the camera gear?
OK I promise not to. I must admit, I tend to "rehome" stones, only form UNESCO World Heritage Sites, not just "a beach"....

Logan rock near treen - nice area. Near porthcurno where they laid the underwater telegraph lines. There's also the minack theatre - cold but fun and very picturesque as dusk comes.

I've just been scouting around for places and things to do and found the http://www.visitcornwall.com/ website to be very nice to navigate, with appropriate filters (month, cost, type, region etc.) to help narrow the options.
I've just spotted in the "What's On" section that we have kite surfing and zapcat racing this coming weekend at Newquay. Fingers crossed the other half will be willing to stand there like a lemon while I try to grab a few pics.

Hang on a minute, there are no guarantees of nice pictures when I'm involved. Anyway, I'm not sure I've secured permission yet. I've mentioned it and the response I received wasn't especially encouraging. Maybe there will be some flower arranging or a craft thingy nearby where Lorna can go and do ladies' things. Let's hope they allow dogs.
(I mean so she can take Jazz)

Been pretty mixed this week. High winds, plenty of rain, lots of cloud, a bit of sun. Temp maxed out at probably no more than 12C all week. We've still had a good time though.
Will get some pics up when I'm back home and can see what I'm doing with them.

I love the place! I prefer to go when its just outside of the peak holidays as I dont like busy crowds. But theres some lovely quiet places you can go to (parking isn't bad for us as we're staying in a house right in town).
Now I hate Newquay as that is far too busy!

Just come back, got to say after the sunday being a complete washout the rest of the week was glorious. Had a superb time. Didn't get to do any landscape photography of note but on the last day I went to a place called Trebarwith.
It has to be the most beautiful beach I have ever been to in england. Thursday night I was picking up a chinese in Camelford and popped into the Darlington inn (which dissapointed me actually, from the outside it looked like a real traditional coaching inn and dated back to the 13th century, inside was very modern :thumbsdown:. But I did have the best pint of tribute I got served all week) anyway, on the wall was a sunset at trebarwith. It was stunning, so I asked a local where it was and set out there with kids in tow the next day.
There is a pub called the Port William literally on the cliff edge, with a beer garden that has the best view I have ever seen in britain, and a great pint of Trelawny! I was there mid day so the pics I got did no justice, but they show the potential at the right time
