Corkys 52 PART 2 --- week 52 - Texture - Thats all folks

A splendid mess of fruit :) I like the originality of this shot and the colours are ok here

Nicely messed up

Apologies everybody. i'm playing catch up all the time at the moment as work is taking priority over everything else. I'll keep trying to keep up and comment on others work, but you will understand if I'm unable.

WEEK 32 - Exposed

Mono

Not a great shot by any means, but I had to get a shot for the week. Will try for a reshoot on this one when I get time.

Nice shot. Would be lovely in sepia. Also might be nicer if it was a little bit less exposed if you ask me.
Looks like a lovely time when you were there..the water looks nice and still.

Have to say, completely agree with kiwi on all points. Great photo, sepia and a little less exposed would be the icing on the cake.

All the same, gets a  from me :)

Thanks all for the kind and informative comments

Jon

both the shots look good to me both nicely composed. mono looks a little on the soft side to me but the tones are fantastic :)

I really do like both of these.

Exposed : great capture of the textures in the wood and some nice colour tines there.

Mono : My favourite out of the two.
Beautiful tranquil scene. I like the way that the tress in the foreground frame the landscape and there are some lovely highlights in the water. It is a little on the soft side, but for me that adds to the mood and ambience of it.
I agree it would be nice to see it in Sepia or with some sort of tinting to it though.

As requested!!

Both shot are nicely done...

The exposed is a mono waiting to happen for me, even thought the colour works fine.

The second Mono work very well and it a great shot, again nicely done...

I much prefer the sepia toning in the second version.
It's a shame about the sky but I'm just being picky now.
A nice tranquil scene with a nod to days gone by.
Nice one! :)

Hi Jon

Love Exposed, it's my kind of photo. Lovely detail and great composition :clap:

It's the second mono for me too. I much prefer the warmth of it.

Exposed ... great shot very clever thinking
Mono - I like both but the sepia works better for me!

Keep up the good work, hope work doesn't get in the way to much, my motto work to live don't live to work!

I like both exposed and mono

Exposed is well seen and has great detail!

Mono - lovely scene - not a huge sepia fan and so I prefer your B&W original shot!

(having said that I'll change my mind next time I look :))

Well done on keeping up :)

The mono pic is a nice scene, the sky has gone but that would need n-grads or blending multiple exposures to crowbar all of that light in.

All considered, a good effort.

Well done Jon, a couple of good shots. I prefer the Sepia tint of the mono versions.

I'm back!...kind of. Big catch up time again

Season

I knew immediately what the pic for this theme was. Near to me we have a disused graveyard that has a Commonwealth War Grave in it belonging to one Sergeant D Lucey, Air gunner, RAF. 17 March 1945 Age 25. His grave is always well looked after and a poppy placed on it every November. It appears that D Lucey died at home in Ireland as a result of war injuries received elsewere.

Right - to catch up with your catching up -

Season: I love the colours in the tree, and the combination of the bronze leaves and the silver trunk if beautiful but it looks a little soft on my screen. Definitely fits the bill, though.

Grunge: That certainly looks grungey. I like the composition and the subdued colours work well with the theme.

Respect: That really is respect, imho - a relative (presumably) looking after a grave for 64 years. It looks in pristine condition too, in contrast to most of the other headstones.

Oh - and welcome back.

Jean

Good way to catch up

Season... I like the tree with it's vivid leaves and silver trunk, but I can't help being distracted by the single OOF branch top left.

Grunge... spot on. The muted colours work well.

Respect... we had similar ideas. nicely shot, the strong light has really bought out the colours in the stones. A respectful take on the theme.

Respect I've done something along these lines, guess we all should have full respect for anyone who puts their life on the line for other people...and a nice touch with the history of that brave young man...

Thanks for sharing that with us...

Catch up time on your catch up ;)

Season : Great colours and nice interpretation of the theme.

Grunge : I'm not sure that this really says grunge to me  But it doesn't matter because I love the composition and the colours are working very well. Really like the bright splashes of blue against the mud.

Respect : My favourite out of the 3. The contrast of that one pristine headstone amongst the others says it all.
A very moving story to go with it - I'm stunned that family are still maintaining it after all these years. That is true respect.

I believe it is maintained by the War Graves Commission

Season, great interpretation but I too find the oof branch at the top of the frame distracting

Grunge, certainly is, well composed and love the muted feel of the shot.

Respect - a perfect example of the theme and good to see they are still maintained.

Well done on catching up.

Season - I agree, great take. I also agree about the branch, and I think it's maybe the slightest bit over exposed.

Grunge - I struggled so much with this. I think your take is as good as any to be honest! Good work on such an awkward one.

Respect - Now we're talkin. This is excellent, love it! Big  for this one.

Sums up my thoughts nicely on each of the shots :) (Okay I'm lazy :))

I've got to say though that respect shot is ace - such an unusual image that pristine gravestone in amongst the older worn and wonky ones. Well seen and well composed (and welcome back :))

well done for catchign up

I really like respect although i do wonder if it is a little on the bright side (or maybe it my screen)

A couple of characters who have already appeared in the 52 thread, but seperately. They enjoy a friendship that no one else can be part of.

Wow you have a lot of nice shots on offer, well done you

Friendship is a lovely shot, really like it, and the story/meaning behind it too

Oh Jon sooooo very close to getting that Friendship one nailed...a tad more focus on the cat...especially the eyes and it would be Brilliant...

Still good though...

Very good Jon, as has been said, relaxed and comfortable and spot on theme.
