Corel launches Lightroom alternative - AfterShot Pro

It appears that Corel have at last released their own LR equivalent called AfterShot Pro:

After buying up/taking over Bibble they have released this as their alternative to Lightroom - you can even get upgrade prices if you own a copy of Lightroom.

Initial feedback from testers and new users is that it is quick and much easier to use compared to LR. Handles RAW very easily apparently.

Food for thought, particularly for new togs or those that aren't Adobe lovers!
 
First impressions aren't that great. Seems very buggy, currently seem to have a permanent white balance correction dropper thing that I cant get rid of and it isn't loading the full size previews of some photos :( also no where near as intuitive as Lr
 
Not only do we now have another alternative, but Adobe are really starting to look a VERY expensive route to take for those without any pre disposed preferences..

Lightroom £150
AfterShop Pro £80
Aperture £60

BUT after a very quick look, I have to agree with Tom, it does need some more work to catch up to the other two apps.

Downloading a Trial but my laptop doesn't quite meet minimum requirements so will be interesting to see what happens!
 
Interesting they're supporting Windows, Mac OS X and two flavours of Linux (Fedora and Ubuntu).
 
Will be interested if anyone/everyone else has the same reaction after importing a few photos to try it out. Mine was very much "erm, where are they then?" doesn't nicely show them like Lr, you have to go hunting....and the hunting doesnt stop there! :(
 
Downloaded trial. Bonus for me is Linux 64 native. I got better results than Photivo: way too many options for a beginner.
Nice interface but not sure it's worth the price.
I'd be using it for noise, which I was impessed with: GIMP does pretty much all else.
