Sorry I'm a donut :bonk: Thinking of a different product

I don't think there are that many painters here Rocket.
Photographers are unlikely to be using a painting program that is meant to be a painting program.

Thanks for the reply,
I have been viewing a photography web site that has various subjects, one of which is creative, this aprt of the forum users are playing with Photoshop, HDR and Coral Painter X.

Some of the work is out standing, all from photographs taken.

Got a link?
If they use Corel Painter, chances are they're having a go at matte painting. Then again, that can be done at Photoshop as well. Some people use it for painting with good results, afaik.

I have been having a look around Photoshop, but don't seem to be able to find what i am looking for.
Anyway i will PM you the site, as iam not sure of the rules here...

I had an earlier Version of Painter, and now have Painter Essentials 4. To be honest I find it a bit gimmicky. It seemed a good idea at the time but now I rarely use it. It depends really what you want to do with it. If you want to create a painting by using the photo as an underpainting then it's not too bad. If you want to use the automated painting features using your photo then it's as bad if not worse than the automatic filters in CS3.

If however you are a brilliant artist with traditional methods of painting you may be able to produce some spectacular works of art similar to those on deviant art. I am a reasonable, but not good traditional artist, but those guys and girls on deviant art just astound me with their skills.

I use Painter X, not much use for photo editing but it's great for inking sketches and stuff. Love the way you can rotate the canvas on the fly too.
