copyrite watermark

there are a few ways to add copyright
the best one I've found recently is picture shark iirc
create a JPG of your water mark and then you can select the transparancy and have a go

or the less lazy way

samples just pasted from my thread on an alternate forum (from picture shark)

What software are you using?

Also have you done a search, there are quite a few threads.

thank you

No I haven't done a search *blushes* truth be known I'm a bit doped up on meds ATM *blushes even more*

I used to just add another layer, write in white then do something to the layer but I can't for the life of me remember what it was.

No worries, that sounds like you're using Photoshop or Elements, so I'll leave it to someone who knows more about those than me.

i usually use paint.net - it's just an old version of coral or photoshop or something I think

I've just turned down the (looks for word but can't find it...) and makes it sort of ghostly, so pretty much a watermark and it works well enough i guess

If you are using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements then you could have a look at Script Writer, you can add a copyright image to your pictures using that. If you create an image at 50% transparency if will give you this effect too.

Just add some text using Photoshop and then lower the layer opacity.

Sorry to jump anothers thread but I have a similar problem.

I know how to make watermarks and save them as an action, the problem I have is that the watermark dimensions then become absolute rather than relative.

After I have finalised an image I like to expand the canvas size (CS3) by 2 percent and give a black frame with a 1 pixel white border around the image.
Then I add my name in the bottom left, it's just that if I saved this process as an action on a 3000x2000 image then run the same action on a 1500x1000 image, won't the watermark and border be twice as big in relation to the second image?

Any help on this would be great.
Thanks, Steven.

Mind if I ask, how do you make the addition of a watermark into an action?

Cunniffee66, personally I'd only add the watermark to the one size of image I.e. Only share one size

Have you ever used macros in any program such as word or excel?
Basically when you create a new action and click record, whatever you do between starting to record and pressing stop will be saved in the action so when you run the action, photoshop will do exactly what you did. This can create problems if a variable changes however.

For example, if you put a watermark in the bottom right of an image that is 1000x1000 pixels, photoshop will record the fact that the layer, vector or text layer has been positioned at say 950 pixels from the left edge and 950 pixels from the top edge (if the watermark was 50 pixels square)

Now if you were to run the same action on another image that is 2000x2000 pixels, the layer, vector or text layer will be placed by photoshop at 950px from the left and top... so in this instance the watermark is essentially in the middle of the image, which is no good.

This is what I need a solution for. If you practice around with actions you will pick it up almost immediately and gain an understanding of how variables can eff things up. Especially if you are batch processing, well you probably are if you created an action.

Anyhow, it's not a simple case of making the images all the same size, what I mean is if you crop a photo then it's dimensions physically change so you have no choice in the matter :\

You could manually reposition the watermark every time there is a discrepancy but in my case I have a 1pixel border around the photograph so if the dimensions change I would have to do it from scratch each time.

See the problem :\

Edit: I forgot to mention, in photoshop go to window > actions I believe.

Thank you kindly, I've used macro's briefly before and they worked fine so shall have a shot at this.

Thanks again, where's the karma +1 when you need it
