Copyright rant

Posting this here as not strictly photo relateed and I need to rant.

Someone posted scanned pages from my fathers book on a facebook page. Being a good son I asked him to remove the scanned pages from the book from the facebook page via a private faecbook message. Anyway I had to message the other admin, yes he was an admin of the page, to get them taken down. Which they duely were by the other admin.

When I check the page this afternoon there was a big debate with my father and myself on the receiveing end. I replied confirming copyright rules, etc.., and that he had been advised previously not to publish the scanned pages.

He then replied stating that I was dragging his integrity through the mud. The cheek of the man when he is clearly in the wrong and we have been slated all day long due to his public post on the page. He's had a suitable polietly worded reply advising him of error!!!

Rant over!!!!!

If they further intimidate you, report them for harassment or something along those lines.

I don't know what people find on facebook, but mine is just stuff my friends post. Since they are people I choose to be friends with, it's all pretty civilised. I've seen far, far worse behaviour on forums, even on here.

respect to copyright is usually the last thing you find on facebook. If you look beyond your friends into various groups (and totally waste your time as well) you may come out with some examples what gets copied and posted. G+ is not any better by the way.

Indeed. Contacting the user we found in the last just resulted in being blocked.

Just report it, all of the ones we've done have always been removed within 24 hours.

Are the comments libelous? Do you have a right to reply on the page?

Whats the subject about, local history or something?

I had the right to reply and my reply stopped the debate in its tracks. The whole debate has now been deleted from the page, saving anyone further embarrassment. The page is now having a big debate about copyright use and they seem to be talking some sense after my reply.

The person who started the whole thing has been messaging me privately and is more concerned about the fact that he didn't get my facebook messages than the fact that he is know looking silly was his own fault. I've had to spell out his errors step by step. :banghead::banghead:

Byket28i, nothing libelous and the subject was local history.

Hopefully that's enough people in the village who understand copyright to stop it from happening again/self-police the forum. Or is that wishful thinking. lol
