Copyright question

Quick update, As I've already said I'm not in this to upset anyone, a large proportion of our work is gifted to small organisers in order to promote the sport. Anyway at the organisers request I've removed all trace of the pics from FB which I have done happily and he has thanked us for.

Good man, you are now in their good books, so next time they owe you a favour....

Or at least should do ;-)

Update, the organiser has contacted us asking if we would mind making our pics available to the competitors as they had a lot of requests for them, so we have reinstated the FB album and put the rest on Flickr. Just goes to show that a little respect goes a long way. But still an interesting situation initially and thanks for all of your input.

@Nitram ,i wonder if there's a photographer erasing you from his christmas card list as we speak Martin

Looks like you made the right choice for you.

I know that if I was there just as a spectator, perhaps with a friend or relative taking part, and was told by the organiser not to post my pictures anywhere, he would be told to go away in the strongest possible terms (two word phrase with three Fs).

Obviously it's a different situation for you as you need to do what's best for future business - which you have done.

Steve.

He means that the official tog probably won't be happy that the organisers have green lighted you.

To be honest, there's only one person you need to keep on side with, and that's the organiser. I'd not recommend deliberately crapping on other photographers (and it sounds like you share my opinion too!) but don't expect the organisers to be bound by those terms of conduct.

Oh right :) I won't say why but I've checked and I can assure you the official tog won't feel crapped on - probably quite the opposite.
