What's a "stylish" way to put a copyright notice on your images - I just use a simple text font and an action in PS

is there a quick and easy way to ensure that the size always maintains the same relative size no matter what you crop the image to - if you understand what I mean - (I have a standard "point" size in the action - if my crop is smaller or bigger than when I set the action up, I have to amend the point size so that it looks OK on the image, i.e. neither too big or too small

Thanks David - I use LR about 30% of the time but I find the black text "smudgy"
 
Lightroom is a good way to put the watermark on the shots, When exporting the image I put one that has already been created and load it on as a PNG, a key thing I think to watermarks aswell is to lower the opacity so its not too in your face so to speak. PS its a tad bit more fiddly, if you have Lightroom I would use it to add the watermarks as its much easier specially for getting a consistent size.

Do you use an image file or just the text provided by LR

I set mine to 5 "points" text size in LR - is this correct? ... or is there one size that varies relative to the image size?


oh I see I should create a .jpg or png image?

I read (on here) a good way to watermark in PS.
Basically set it up as a brush preset. That way you can adjust the size and opacity on sliders (and colour!) depending on the image size etc. (then just 'stamp' the image)
The alternative is, I use @cowasaki 's script to include the copyright notice on the border with other details about the shot.

I use a PNG file, reason being PNG's are transparent so if you use a JPEG image there will be a white background or some sort of background behind the text where as the PNG will be transparent meaning there will be nothing behind it just the text or logo you have created/chose.

Regarding to the size wise that is completely upto you what size you want the watermark so its your call on how big/little you want it.

If you are creating a watermark PNG every time.

Near the bottom is digital watermark branding video link, it shows how to make an action that will watermark images, it works on landscape/portrait, worth a look even if you already have an action, you might find this better for what your after.
 
Don't put anything - use metadata. In the light of the law even stripping metadata from images is actually illegal. And you won't be crippling images in any way. It won't prevent anyone from stealing your images, but watermarking them won't, either... :)
 
my question was not about the images being "stolen" - I only put such on my images for reference - it is easy to copy any image from the web
 
Watermarking the images does put people off, you'll never stop them but you can make it a PITA to use them.
 
Hi Bill. I didn't explain myself very well. Basically i do as Joe says. I created a simple logo/text png file in PS then saved it and add it to my pics in Lr. It's really simple and i have a white one and a black one depending on the colour of the photo. I have a few saved 'bottom right white' 'bottom left black' etc and just choose one from a drop down menu under the watermark menu on the export dialogue box. I use 50% opacity and size 10 iirc. It the scales it to size depending on image size. Easiest way to do it i find.
