Copyright info needed...

Hi all,

i have just been taking picutres around my house and i took a shot of some cd's. You can clearly see the bands name on the cd's casing and i was wondering if this would be illegal for me to publish this (just to all you guys on TP) for a non profit purpose ? :shrug:

Oh and i selected the wrong icon, really sorry !!!! it was ment to be a ?

Well, I'd say that you would be advertising the CDs, rather than illegally using them.
After all, you're about to post pictures of them, not play their contents

If you have blatently taken a picture of another picture, then you could have copyright issues. If it happened to be in the background you could be ok. It depends on the final use and agency whether they may accept it. If it's for editorial then you'd probably be ok.

I'd think it would be OK if it's not the main "feature" of the image. And as long as you're not selling them or anything.

I was just wanting to take shots that represent my lifestyle, but if i'm breaking the law i will happily take the shots off

To be honest, in my humble opinion (and only my personal opinion), that should be OK, as it's in context, rather than a reproduction of the artwork itself.
