Do I need a data connection for this app,I know its down load maps but cant find out if I need phone data connection to make it work.! any help please thanks.

I use this with my HTC HD mini mobile phone, no data connection required for my phone (its a Pay as you go).

Thanks for reply, how do you get on with copilot.? I am use to tomtom, but it wont go on my mobile.

Its fairly accurate, my copy needs to be updated but overall pleased with both the software and support given by ALK.

It's been my choice of Sat Nav for a couple of years now, excellent value for money. Take some time to set it up to suit yourself, with your preferences for route type, speed cameras PoIs etc and you'll be fine with it. I've used it on everything from an HTC Desire to a Nexus 7 with no problems.

Download the maps you want via wifi at the beginning and you won't have to go online again unless you want access to some of the 'live' features like traffic updates.

Thanks for the feedback, i will install it today.

UK copy is alright, but I would highly advise against using US version if travelling. There are issues with maps that can be pretty lethal.

How so?

I know a few people who have used it, and have had a quick look at the reviews and haven't heard/cant find anything that states its "pretty lethal" in any way.

Bit late now but another vote for co-pilot. Been my sat nav of choice for last 4-5 years.

Traffic option is a nice upgrade if you do get some data allowance

1. The thing insisted on entering motorway the WRONG way (against the traffic) 3 times, and once was nearly successful. I can't forgive that.

2. I have been taken to the top of the mountain and told to use a fire escape path as a shortcut. Luckily it was closed, but there were some interesting views :cuckoo:

This is all Denver and Rocky mountains by the way.

3. Las Vegas. Why the hell did I make me go anywhere in the city via interstate? They are horrific places, nothing like M5 - 6-7 lanes and crazy traffic.

How long ago was that? I've just spoken to someone who has used it in the US in the last few months (the iPhone version), he had nothing bad to say, actually the comment was "just like tomtom, worked well".

2 months ago. I agree about "just like tomtom" - both can make some some crazy adventures. Well copilot at least works well in UK.

Had copilot on for a few days, really like it. works very well loads of options.
Its good to be able to put on new phones when I get them without cost also.
phone does get a bit warm when its on,so good idea to vent if possible.

Again thanks for feedback.

Heavy on battery too, but you can do things to mitigate that and the heat issue, mainly get the screen to switch off over a set speed, this makes a big difference.

Just plug it in the 12V socket  There are plenty of ebay USB adapter cables, but I personally prefer 12V adapter to USB female socket and a long standard USB charger cable.
