I'm a big fan of fish and shell fish so I thought I'd treat myself to some mussels at Tesco. They are not fresh ones. They were in a packet of white wine and garlic sauce in the fridge section...Yummy. You can boil in the bag, on the hob or microwave. I wasn't rich enough for fresh ones today.

Anyway, some of them are open. It's been a long time since I've made muscles and my folks always told me to never eat ones that stay closed once COOKED, but what about open ones before you cook them?

Quick advice please, they are screaming my name in the fridge :D thanks.

The rules about open/closed relate to fresh MUSSELS (not muscles) so you should be alright with the prepacked ones, they should all have been checked before cooking and packing at the factory.

Lol my bad. Thanks (y)

Yup, the pre-prepared ones will have been cooked at the factory before packing. Follow the "cooking" instructions on the pack and you'll be fine.
