Yes
has anyone used these systems, http://www.rihac.co.uk
I'm look for a system for a Canon MP620, these seem to be the only ones who do one, if you have heard of them or do use them, what are they link, how easy are they to install and whats the quality of the inks like ?

Thanks

I used to use one on my Epson 400. Could be a little messy and you had to make sure that you ran at least a couple of pages a week off the printer or you'd have to clean the heads a few times before using it, but I think that problem was more specific to the Epson's only. Refilling and so on was quite easy and not messy and the print quality always seemed fine ..............

I got mine from Cityinkexpress after others at my camera club got one
Good inks and at £4.04 100ml

the printer i have is a multifunction MP620 i've looked at the links provided, and they don't look as if they support my printer

cheers

Anyone experienced a CIS for HP Photosmart Pro printers?

Yep, I've got one of the cityink ones hooked up to my Photosmart D7260, easy install, works perfectly and had no problems. The colours look great and it has saved me a fortune in priniting costs.

Got a link? The only citylink I found was the couriers!

Is their system compatible with the 'B' series of photosmart pros?

Personally I would NOT use them

I ordered a CIS for my HP from them, they gave me no info but took the money, after 3 weeks i chased, got a message that their delivery was due next week.

Chased again, told that my CIS wasnt in the order, so they would refund me my money.

They then didn't answer my subsequenbt emails querying if i could order a different product instead.

Cityink seems to provide two solutions one branded as their own (which seems to be identical to Rihac one OP referred to) and the Lyson one. Lyson seems to be more expensive initially though it seems to be more information about them. Plus Lyson offers B/W and monochrome printing inks (for 4-inks and 6-inks inkjets - which could be a bonus). Can anyone comment on difference between Lyson and the other ones?

Personally I had nothing but trouble when I tried to use on my Canon MP600.
It would bleed through the cartridge tank and eventually the ink hit the chip sensors so it wouldn't read the chips, kept telling me no ink was recognised.

Took me days to clean it all out only for it to happen straight away when I reinstalled it so it went in the bin!

I might just of had a bad time because others have had hassle free installations so its up to you really whether you can be bothered or not.

After short looking around I think that Cityink is a bunch of time wasters.

The offer Lyson inks for every possible Canon model (including MP series) and I cannot find even a trace of evidence that Lyson ever produced those. Marutt do not sell anything of the kind either. All the printer profiles for those supposedly supported printers lead to the non existing Cityink page and the other links lead to some third party profiling company (which I presume is their offspring). On the closer inspection looks like they are bundling Lyson inkset and cartriges for entirely different Canon models bundled with their own continuous flow system and inks. I don't know how they can advertise it as Lyson though.

They also have a bunch of nearly identical websites in UK with a different brand and name selling exactly the same things (fotorite.co.uk for example) under different brand.
To be honest this looks very much like one of those HK/chinese online stores like Simplyelectronics that pretend too hard to be a real thing but they are not. I'd stay away from Cityink for now...

I too bought the CIS kit from Cityink off their Ebay page and I've had no problems with it at all on my D7260 printer. I didn't buy thr external CIS kit as they can prove to be more troublesome than the refillable catridges, I had been waiting ages for something like this to come along that actually works well, and produces good colour photographs.

Thumbs up from me!!!

:agree:

I have one of their kits in an A3 Epson R1400 and also one in an HP 7200. Both work perfectly, never a blockage or smear. I had a minor problem with one after a month and they offered to replace it, no questions asked. Then found it was my fault, emailed them and got a reply within minutes.

For what its worth, I will continue using them.

Hi,

From the problems I have heard about, some CIS kits tend to be prone to blockages and often require priming so that the ink flows through the tubes, this normally occurs after long periods of non use whereas with the refillable cartridges they tend to be less troublesome and work straight after the printer has turned on and done it's thing. Also the external unit has to be kept as the same level as the printer which can be a problem if you have limited desk space.

Mike.

So sounds like the refill system might be ok, but not so the external system?

No, never done refills, my CIS systems are the external ones like in Chaz Photos post and work fine. Never had a blockage or needed to prime them, but you do need to follow the instructions on their correct use and positioning! Compatible cartridges are good, if you get a good supplier. I use THESE,
very good quality and prices. Never had a problem and 3 members of my family use them.

Good retailer. If only they [or someone] did compatibles for the B8850!

Tough call on which way to go: Refills v External........hopefully a B8850/B9180 user may post.

Hello i feel i have to reply to this post

Rihac and Cityinkexpress use the same supplier and same inkset,
The fotorite site is now closed it was a trial of ours / now forwaded to cityinkexpress, we also own 2 other sites as well

Regarding the Lyson systems we have been working with them since february this year and sent many many printers to the lyson labs for them to combine with Fotonic XG inkset and a pigment black ink.

The icc profile links for all the canons are now complete as we received them from lyson the other day and updated the site.

The reason its not advertised yet is because it has only just been completed within the the last few days, we will be asking Lyson to put something on their website regarding the new canon range.

We have started and will continue to distribute our canon products to Marrut and over the next few months you will see an even larger range of lyson available.

the profiling company is not part of us we have used them for many years and the reason we chose them was because of the quality and the excellent icc guides

It seems you have been looking at the site when / whilst we were building it

Best regards Shane

You wont find compatible but you will find refillable cartridges and a bulk ink system, bulk ink system is the most stable for this model

Any admins please accept our apologies for this post its just i felt i had to comment when a member was in doubt over the lyson products

thanks shane

I do apologise i totally agree it was clearly not acceptable shane

After reading this thread I thought that I would try one of these systems so here is how it went. Ordered from Cityink on the Thursday and it promptly arrived on the Monday. I read the instructions and was baffled the pictures specific to my printer (canon mp600) were very difficult to see and the left of the printer means looking at it from behind not in front. Anyway managed to get it installed and it would not recognise one of the inks which after a bit of fiddling it did but then it got stuck on both sides as the tube was too long. After about an hour and a part falling off my printer managed to resolve this and it was up and running.

Here it is installed (these pictures are much better than those sent)

Then after a few prints it stopped running the ink in, I accept responsibility for this as I had not removed the stopper from the ink pots. Anyway now it is all set up we printed off some photos to do some scrapbooking and I have to see I am very pleased with the result. Although it was very fiddly for the cost of less than the cartridges it is proving great value.

I appreciate it is difficult to see but these are the printed images taken some time ago with a P&S.

If I get time will print off some from the DSLR to show.

Hi Sting,

Could you update us on your experience with Cityinkexpress CISS system?

Hi shaneH,

If you want people to trust you, it's not difficult - but you really need to sharpen your act a little!

Your post and your sites seem almost designed to arouse buyer-suspicion:
> lack of clarity about who manufactures the inks and the continuous ink supply systems (CISS) systems, is it Lyson, or Fotonic, or Marutt, or Rihac, or a whole set of small Chinese no-name suppliers?
> strange excuses about your site "being looked at while we were building it" (why make it accessible if not ready?)
> no personal profile, no contact numbers
> several websites
> changing brand names, e.g., fotorite

Possibly simply poor PR/poor English skills? I would really appreciate comments from other people who have ordered ink and CISS systems from Cityinkexpress....

Sorry reposting to subscribe to the thread. Seems no other way of receiving a notification!

I have used a CISS system with my Epson 2100 using Fotoright dye inks for over twelve months, fitting it was easy and I have had no problems apart from the occasional head clean when the printer has not been used for a while. I have found Cityink Express (Shane) very helpful. Service and delivery is excellent. For cleaning and resetting the heads. I recommend the SSC Service Utility (free download) a great utility!

Why are you using dye inks when you have a pigment printer?

Wow first thread 2009, last thread before today may 2011.

I'm not sure some of these posts towards the end aren't people just advertising ink systems :suspect:

FWIW I only just found out about CIS's earlier this year when I was looking at reviews for the brother printer I was about to buy. Brought from Cityink, rubbish instructions, great product. Its in day to day use in the office with no problems at all.

Regarding the use of dye inks in a pigment ink printer. During an on line conversation with the guys at Epson about inks I was informed that if you want a print to look like a photograph use dye based inks not pigment.
