Yes
I may well be tying the knot next year. I've been asked by her over there as to whether I'd wear contacts on the day. I have worn glasses since I was ten(now early thirties) and have never entertained the idea of contacts. For some reason the entire idea of touching my eyes gives me the heebie jeebies. I can't watch other people fit their contact lenses.

So to those who have worn or tried them, how the fudge do you do it?

Woah!
First day of marriage and she's pretty much demanding a new look? RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL.... Once you know how to put them in it is straight forward. If you are going to use them start a month or so before the day or as soon as.

With the soft ones you eyes become dry after long use.

Our girl wears them, how she gets them in and out every day i have no idea and like yourself, i can't even watch!

If she says she'd like you to wear contacts then return the favour and ask if she'll wear an apron, best get her used to married life ;)

I had to give up trying to put contacts in the first time.
I just couldn't do it and my eyes were aching.
Next time they just went in, and removing was a doddle. Now, it's as easy as putting my specs on.

There's bound to be a video of how to do it on Youtube.

It's only for the big day itself.
Contacts are fiddly pain in the bum, or eye if you get it drastically wrong. I think she's winding you up and just wanting to you to put more effort into the day, considering you just have to sling a suit on compared to the hours of make up and hair trauma she's gonna go through ;)

get daily disposables and there is no messing with cleaner etc.

Agreed. Daily lenses are great. I started using them three months ago. Much better than the lenses which needed constant cleaning which I had twenty years ago.

Steve.

Contact lenses for me were life changing. I hate glasses with a passion, the way they steam up, the way peripheral vision is poor, etc... However, I also hated putting them in, taking them out, cleaning them etc. then I tried the monthlies. WOW!

put them in on first of month and leave them in, all month. Sleeping, showering, the lot. Just change them 12 times a year.
£15 a month... bargain... I would never go back to glasses, nor the daily disposables and have been on these monthlies for about 7 years now.

It's awkward and uncomfortable the first few times you try to put in the contacts, but they're fantastic after that.

Between sport and staring through the viewfinders of various cameras, I don't really see a reason to bother with glasses anymore.

I tried them but couldn't get the hang of taking them out again. Wearing glasses hasn't bothered me too much since I've had to start wearing them although them steaming up at time is a pain.

One of the great joys of contact lenses which I noticed recently is walking in the rain. No need for your fingers to become windscreen wipers!

Omens, it takes a while to get used to the insertion and removal so I would use them for a while before the day so you're not blinking in all the photos. As Steve says, they're a huge boon in the rain, although hopefully that won't be a factor on 'the day'!
I use daily disposables and TBH, I never actually touch my eye - the lens, yes but not the surface of the actual eye. Insertion is easier than removal IME. I only wear one usually since I'm of an age when I also need reading glasses and my distance vision is actually good enough (scarily!) for me to not need to wear any correction and the clocks are at a distance test is comfortable for me uncorrected.
Specsavers usually have a free trial on dailies and you might get away with the trial pairs if you don't want to make a permanent switch.

Tesco are also good. They are currently offering a free standard eye test then you pay £15 for an extra test and trial with lenses. they will try you with a couple of the lenses on the second visit and work out any prescription changes needed then on a third visit they will make sure you can put them in and out and and send you away with ten pairs.

The idea is that you come back after the ten days and decide if you want to continue.

If you get the timing right, you won't need any more than this!

Steve.

I've tried several types of lenses several times and simply cannot put them in or take them out without gagging.

If you want to give them a go I'd definitely take advantage of one of the free trials.

I do however think being asked to wear them even just for one day is out of order. Jmho.

Get the sort you leave in. I've spent 10 years wearing the sort you leave in for a month. they're great.

I've been using these for about 15 years, minimal eye prodding and full vision day & night :D

Thanks for the info. I'll pop to specsavers and tescos to see what they offer.

Hopefully, I'll be able to wear contacts. The alternative may well be laser surgery but am worried about the long term effects.

Could I ask why does she want you to wear contacts on THE DAY only?

I am early thirties too, wore glasses most of my life and getting married in April.
I am sure my guests would make nice comments about the change if I was wearing contacts so I don't see the point to go back the next day.

Wearing glasses is a part of you, why changing it on one of the most important day of your life?

Sorry if I am too critical.

I suspect it's just for that time period. She wears contacts.

I honestly think I look better without them - always do but just that I'm not vain about these things.

I love that idea but I don't think they make one month lenses as powerful as I need them. I think I could get one week lenses though. I might try them.

I had them 15 years ago

I'm a bit ham fisted , getting them in was ok but getting them out proved almost impossible until I came home p***ed from the pub and they were out in 5 seconds
