Yes
I have just had to take my Samsung S6 off of sale from the classifieds here as my new Samsung phone has developed a fault :(

Right from the get go I noticed it would get hot for no apparent reason, in recent days it has started to turn it's self off because it has got so hot, this is now happening numerous times a day.

This of course makes the phone pretty much useless.

I bought the phone from Argos 9 days ago.

From my understanding on the Consumer Rights Act 2015 I have the right to reject the phone and return it for a full refund because 1. Due to the overheating & shutting down the phone is defective in some way. 2. I am within the 30 days

So my question is am I right in my understanding?

Yup I have read that, I have come across some right plonkers though in the past when trying to get a refund so was just checking that I have got it right with my thinking on the new legislation

As I read it, you are correct. The retailer does however have the right to test it to ensure it is as you say and that's where the legislation isn't straightforward, e.g., what's a reasonable timescale etc.

Argos employees aren't qualified to make these decisions and in my experience will simply take things back without question. However, that was a Denon stereo system once and a laptop another time.

It all depends on who you are dealing with I suppose, and as you say, some nightmare stories are out there.

Good luck with it.

Yes. Significant fault within first 30 days and you can reject it for a full refund. After 30 days and before 6 months they have one chance to repair. If repair fails then you can again reject it.

If it's getting hot it could be the battery failing and that can be dangerous.

Don't buy an iphone 8 ;)

LOL I won't be buying an iPhone again.

I have seen reports online of people having similar problems so I am not alone in this

But how many hundreds of thousands have no problems?

Steve.

Isnt it a fault with the battery, not the phone, not though that should matter of course.
Good info here, I thought if an item was repaired you had in effect accepted it with it's fault and could only get it repaired i.e. no full refund within 6 months after repair, and only one chance, good to know.

Young lass who was new to the job on the till, when I explained why I was returning the phone she just said do you want a refund and I said yes, she then said "Oh I know how to do them"

I could see her boss, with the phone in his hand, chatting with her as I left the store.

Result ,not the best firm to deal with when you have a problem ,Argos Stands for

All ouR GOods S.hit

Six of one and half a dozen of the other as usual.
I've never had a problem with Argos, either buying or returning.

Often reasonably priced. Almost always have the stuff in stock. Generally good about returns/refunds.

Argos also do same day delivery if you order earlier in the day. I was quite impressed with that. Saves having to set foot into a store ;)

The only problem I ever had with Argos was their delivery system.
If you buy branded goods, then it doesn't really matter which supplier you buy them from, they should be identical.

pity they don't still give/accept green shield stamps
