Over the last couple of weeks it seems to have been raining almost every day seriously curtailing my normal photo walks.
just wondering if anyone uses or could recommend an umbrella for use on such days

When I bought my new camera in town, I obviously wanted to try it out there and then (I had asked them to charge the battery up before I got to the shop). It started raining, so I popped into Primark and bought a £3 see-through brolly, which I then stuck down between by back and my jacket. Worked a treat for street photography!

It is my experience that whenever I even slightly think about doing some photography, the heavens open for at least 6 hours, writing off the day unless I'm really determined. It is just a rule of thumb. It was the same when I was flying - if I said I might book the plane for the next day, sure enough it would either rain, be low cloud, or way too windy. Or all 3. The only pastimes I've had that didn't have a weather gotcha are ham radio and horse riding (although it was a bit iffy if it was icy).

It's getting me down too. I normally walk at least 5 miles a day, and carry a camera, but the last few days I've given up and used the car.
Theres not much I can add to Bodians post really. Well except brollies never work for me, here near the coast it's normally crazy windy and wet at the same time so brollies last about 30 seconds, even had beanie hats blow off. Wales where busses have lifeboat drill....

The rain used to stop me, but as my opportunities to get out are very few and far between, I decided that I would get some waterproof covers for my camera and lenses and go out anyway :)

I use olympus weather sealed camera ,weather sealed lenses only downside to that is my specs haven’t got windscreen wipers ‍♂️

I can't make up my mind whether to buy a boat or a submarine . . .
