Just purely as a matter of interest to anyone considering doing the same. We decided to old wooden frame which was rotting needed upgrading to UPVC. Below is ours being done from the dwarf wall up, A total build from ground up would be in the region of £25/30,000 for the same size 4x4 mtr approx as a general guide irrespective of shape

As it was originally

Rot setting in

end of demolishment

start of new UPVC installation

tarpaulin on to protect inside until roof glass fitted

inside at the moment

Today waiting for the guy to come and do the lead flushing sealings between house wall and new roof. Tomorrow they will be back to finish off. That will be the new heat reflecting roof panels-, edging strips -gutter and inside widow ledge.
At the moment it has only taken a day to get this far.

As I said at the beginning this is only for anyone thinking of doing the same and not for photographic merit

The price I paid for my current house reflected the fact that the existing conservatory was in a similar state.
Did the same thing as you're doing a couple of day before moving in.
Worth every penny (and makes a nice bright place to take pictures  ).

We would have had this done last year if it wasn't for me spending a lot of the time in and out of hospital. Teazle our border terrier can't wait for her new abode to be completed

Ous (3m x 3m) was £11,000 3 years ago. Worth every penny IMO. Probably the room we spend more waking hours in than any of the others.

They turned up today the job they were going to do blew out. Now got 4 guys for Sue to oole at

Just the gutter a bit of trim and window ledge inside to do tomorrow

What ever you do DO NOT get a roof vent ALL and I mean ALL the ones I have ever known leak eventually. People who own fitting companies never have them for themselves.

Everyone who has a roof vent / window can now post contrary to the above. They all leak eventually

I agree with that + they tend to get a bit draughty in the Winter.

When we had a new glass roof put on ours, the fitters mentioned `vents` & I said, "forget it & fill every potential gap with extra silicone, coz we don't like spiders either!!!!" :runaway:
It's been on about 7 years now & no draughts & don't see many spiders

@realspeed may I ask how much this has cost? And is it really only taking 3 days?!
My conservatory looks to be the same manufacturer as your old one (everything from window style, construction, to door hinges matches mine) so lets say that I definitely have a vested interested!

TB posted costs to your conversation box and it took them two and a half days from start to finish

Wow, that looks amazing. It'll be interesting to get your review on the heat reflecting roof once we've had a bit of sun!

Same here. All I can say at the moment is it makes the conservatory look twice the size. We had to had brown on the outside due to local regulations on this estate. yes took 2.5 days to do but these guys started at 7.30 am and finished around 4pm without stopping for a break.Local company and not sub contractors and boy did they work hard. More than that I could not believe the better than excellent work. Way beyond my expectations. They even put proper lead flushing not this plastic on a roll stuff to join the wall to top

No way I'd disagree, our roof vent / window has been a pain in the wot sit.
It was fine for a few years and has leaked on /off since.
Wish we'd looked in to it more and not bothered.

Looks really nice Bazza!

That is one of the reasons we had the small opening windows all around . Each one has a lock and so difficult to get into and far better than a roof vent.Sue (wife) wants to do a repaint inside, the roof is a little higher than before so some bricks are bare.

Before we started we did a little research and got a couple of quotes from big companies. What put us off, as we only really wanted a ball park figure, was the sales guy telling us all about the company he worked for. Did we REALLY want to know how many installations they had done or the company value or even where the sand came from to make the glass, yes even into that to try and persuade us. I DON'T THINK SO. Or even about the discounts for this that and the other or how and when to pay for each part of the installation. Ithink the word is a lot of B*** S*** he was giving us.
This local company did not even ask for a deposit which we found unusual. Peter the boss said he only asks for payment when the customer is completely satisfied with what they did. What a nice change from the money grabbers.
