Conservation and Shooting.

I know your all probably bored of seeing sika deer by now, but I have followed and watched these beasts all year long, from no antlers,to buds, to full sets. From seeing the first young of the year following mum through the meadows. They have had a really good breeding year, plenty of young about and in a few weeks, that process will start again. The stags are chasing the hinds about like mad just now, they will be servicing them in a week or so. This lad looks ready anyway......:)

Dappled light, not sure if it works or not?

Works fine, Ade. Being dark makes them quite mean looking. Never came up against Sika. What sort of nature to they have?

Sika.....:suspect:...In my experience, generally secretive when in the woods. If the weather is not blowing or raining then they will venture out of the shelter and into the meadows. The hinds become quite nosy at times and will venture nearer to you, a short high pitched screech followed by a swift exit happens when the scent or work out what you are. They have got used to my hilux and Richards quad resulting in you being able to get very close to them. I think they have better eyesight than Roe,again, just my opinion, and are a very similar size, slightly bigger.

Thanks, very interesting.

Been up in the dales, usual boring shot of Janets Foss, had to get this angle as a some bloke had set up a tripod, shutter release, filters and all that type of stuff for the full frontal shot.

Just a few of these knocking about, just a bit too early and a bit too much water for a full run.

I`ll go back for the salmon soon and hopefully get better, these were taken on the lower of the three falls, the light is a lot better on the upper falls, the sunlight really reflects off the fish better.

A few from last Thursdays shoot.

It's just dinner...

No warning required IMO...it's not like they're being tortured to death...

Joke Arkady  having seen some of my comments in my Thread re shooting pictures.

Yep dinner is ready for the the oven today  don't like them hung to long.

Left handed shooter, but even allowing for that, that Beretta stock is way too long for him judging by how straight his right arm is.

ooh check you out Lady la-di-dah...

Consorting with well-hung peasants, eh...:naughty:

PH for pheasants not peasants makes me remember that rhyme,

I am not a pheasant plucker,
I'm a pheasant pluckers sone,
I am only plucking pheasants,
Till the Pheasant plucker comes

Nice shots of the shoot, again. I will be doing the same next Monday, hopefully. He does look bloody uncomfortable with that gun though.

My thoughts too! I'm not an expert shot, but I do know that you're s'posed to be comfortable, and he looks VERY uncomfortable!

Good shots though Ade - at least someone can shoot ;)
