Yes
Afternoon,
I’ve tried connecting my Canon 6D 2 to my iPad Pro with a mini usb to usb c lead
The iPad doesn’t recognise the camera I thought that it would show up as a device to allow me to copy the photos to the iPad
I’ve found a way round it by using a card reader (using the same cable so that’s not the problem) can copy the photos across to the iPad
I’m just curious why the camera can’t be recognised by my iPad as I’m sure it’s possible to do that

It works with my Sony a6300 but in the camera settings the USB port has to be in the right setting and the camera turned on

Thanks I’ll check the settings
I did try turning the camera on and off

well I’ve tried a different Canon camera and it’s the same , doesn’t see the camera

I am not very technically minded so may be something obvious

it is not a problem as such as I can use a card reader but just thought it was odd that it doesn’t see anything when I connect the camera directly, the apple site even shows a camera connected directly to the iPad Pro

its not a problem as such just curious as to why it doesn’t work

could be a specific issue with canon cameras
I’ve also asked on an apple forum but no resolution I can’t believe nobody’s tried to connect a canon camera to an iPad

I've experienced the same, with an older iPad Air, and the Apple USB adapter thingy (the one where you have to also plug in the power cable to do any transfers). Works fine with the card reader, but not direct from the cam. I assume it must be some USB protocol or summat, where the cam doesn't allow direct file transfer to a mobile device such as an iPad. Does your cam connect directly to your computer?

Ahh I see thanks that sounds like the same problem I’m getting
Yes the camera connects to my MacBook laptop with no issues

It's annoying. Direct file transfer would be really useful. Apple do a 'camera adapter' but I don't know if that would work. I think it's just an unpowered USB adapter.

Yep exactly would be good if it worked but at least it works with the card reader so I’m good to go
It was just puzzling more than anything

Only thing I can suggest is checking the settings on your iPad under Touch ID & Passcode - USB Accessories.

Make sure this is switched on.

Dougie.
