OK, I am being a bit dim here.

We have a skybox with sky (basic + sports)
they are advertising renting movies from them from 99p which the better half will want.

Our current internet set up is as follows.

BT Landline into the house - splits to phone line and netgear router.

The phone line is plugged into the phone (yeah, honest it is!) and also the back of the skybox.

the wireless router has various pc's and things connected... i.e.

desktop
laptop
netbook
2 x phones
PS3
wii.

erm that's about it.

I now wish to connect the skybox to the interent which according to sky must be done. I am guessing cannot be done wifi - sky+HD box (the black one) -- cannot find anything in the settings etc.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Polite note: I am not interested in sky is crap get virgin (we cannot), or get x broadband instead of aol.... etc....

Ta.

It looks like an ethernet is the only way - which will be impossible..... (well not impossible but a PITA)

Does such a thing exist which is like a satellite wifi router so i can bung that behind the sky box and ethernet into that?

You need an ethernet cable and a switching box, you plug an ethernet from your router into the switching box and that gives you a number (depending on the switch box) of additional connections.

like these

pretty sure that's not what I need. router one side of the room. Sky+ / TV etc diagonal opposite corner... but thanks for the help

Hmm that looks to be about it, however £60. (seems a lot) Whats in that box that isn't in other boxes? (Should other boxes exist!)

This may work and its cheaper

but you'll need 2 so not much cheaper

Homeplugs will help you out if you have a spare Ethernet on your router.

Check the classifieds, someone might have some for sale....

nice plug (:lol::lol::lol:)

now if you explain in simpleton terms, how these work.. (i understand the electricity flows into and out of them and the ring main acts as a connector) ... is it literally, plug into the main with ethernet to router and plug into main with ethernet to sky+ box?

If so, I may be tempted with a cheeky offer.

That's exactly it, they're nice and simple.
