I've had my canon 400D with kit lens for about 2 months and I am thinking about getting a new lens. I've found a canon 50mm f/1.8 at a really good price and was wondering what else i really need? I was also wondering about filters, what filters would you recommend and what size would I need.

Hi Matt,

I have a Nikon D40. I've had it for less than a week, and already want a new lens. :) I seen some of those Close Up lenses, but I wasn't sure if they were the real deal or not. They look pretty good for the price, perhaps to good?
 
What subject's does your photography include?

It's hard for other members to suggest items of kit that may be of use to you without that info.

If your only lens is going to be the 50mm, a set of close up filters would help with macro work, it's not going to be much use though if your going to turn to motorsports etc,so a longer lens would be more help.
