I have a Canon 60D which is great 99% of the time but sometimes it's a bit big to carry about for nights out etc. I had a Sony W800 about 5 years old now but it seems to have gone missing (I think I left it in a hotel room:suspect:) so I need to look for a replacement, to be honest I was getting a bit disappointed with the results anyway too much of a contrast between it and the 60D.

I have seen the ads for Lumix and Nikon 1 but looking on-line there seems to be loads of models available and I am confused about which model I would be happy with. Has anyone got any recommendations for a model that is smallish and light enough to stick in a pocket or small bag? :)

The Fuji X-10 wins hands down these days in the compact market.

I wouldn't worry so much about a bridge, they are just really a compact in a DSLR shaped body with a larger zoom range and aren't really pocketable

Thanks I will have a look at this one too:) I don't want a bridge but this new category came out after I stopped working for a camera vendor so I don't really know what they are like.

for truly pocketable:
~£300 look at the Canon S95/S100 .
~£500 look at the new Sony RX100 - reviews are few atm but what there is looks very impressive.

Thanks Everyone I had look around a few shops and finally decided on a Samsung not had chance to play yet ....
