Today I woke up and found that my Sweet Bokeh shot made flickr Explore (it did take two days to get their) but this is my first shot where i have made the explore side of Flickr and its given me a little confidence boost to say that sometimes, I can do this photography lark!

Its nice when these things happen isn't it?

This thread was by no-means a "lets bump my photo thread" though. It was purely aimed at the confidence small things give us hopeful's!
I just linked the pictures to show which one it was :)

Maybe a silly question, but how do you know when one of your photos had made it on to Explore?

Seriously? I have not got a clue!
I just read a comment whilse i was looking on my iphone this morning in bed "congratulating" me on making explore, I was like "WTF". I jumped up and booted the laptop up to check and found it on page 41 of the day I uploaded it.
You get no notafications from flickr or nothing though :S
 
Yeah, it is nice :) I had my first in Explore last week, it was a 'Welding Glass' shot of the 'Three Graces' on Liverpool waterfront. It made it up to number 1 at one point. I got a massive boost to views, something the 2.5K compared to my usual hits of around 50 a day!
Although saying that, explore is fickle, it got dropped from position 2, then spent the next couple of days going in and out of explore (it's dropped at the moment).

As I mentioned above, I havent a clue how it does it or what goes on. I dont have flickr Pro either to look at hits (uniquely etc)
 
2 have hit explore of mine and i missed the first one! How stupid of me :(
 
Congratulations on having your photos explored! Nice setup and lighting.

I'm in the same boat as you - found out yesterday that 2 of mine have been featured in the past but I had absolutely no idea. They're quite low down (page 42 for their respective days), which will explain why I didn't notice as it doesn't look like many views come from there.

Like you say, it's a big confidence boost. I have absolutely no idea how an image makes it in the list though!
 
is flickr explore like a group? how do u send ** picts in?
 
You don't send pics in... Flickr algorithms decide what hits explore based on number of views, comments, favourites, etc.
 
I have had 1 image in Explore which came as a suprise to me, I only found out after someone left a message congratulating me on making it :lol:

I'd love it if I could get some more in there but haven't managed it yet. I did read that the more your groups you place your picture in the less likely you are to make it to Explore. Not quite sure how true that is though.

my understanding of explore is an image that gets alot of traffic/comments and favorites in a short period of time without promoting it within many groups.

Look as Dustin Diaz for instance...
