Yes
well i opened up my camera bag to take some pics ofthe kids yesterday, to discover my sigma 70-210 2.8 was all fogged up (inside and out)

going to put some of those saches in that you get in shoes, but is it too late for the lens?

do you think it is deaded or will it dry out, and would that be covered by insurance, if it is dead?

store it in a room temeperature cupboard with no moisture. leave it to breath and the moisture should dissapear. leave for about a day or 2

thanks 33l will try that. bet you can imagine how happy i was, luckily my kit lens was fine so wasnt a complete write off

Where had you stored the lens?

As suggested, room temp no moisture room and leave well alone. If it clears, the issue may be water marks on the glass after evaporation.

If you have accidental damage on your home insurance, there's always the option of "oops ive tripped downstairs" routine...

i always have a handful of silica gel bags in the bottom of my camera bags as its so easy to have damp lenses from a walk, I always keep my bags open to rid of moisture.

I wouldn't bother with silica gel sachets to be honest. Once they're exposed to atmoshpere they're saturated with moisture on no time at all and you have to bake them at several hundred degrees to dry them out again.

How wet was the glass on the inside, are you likely to get drying marks do you think?

it was stored in my camera bag, which was behind my sofa.

I have specific camera insurance rather than house insurance

it was, well fogged over, like a window, with my luck, yeah will be full of water marks

Blimey thats a bit worrying then, how on earth that that much built up indoors; very odd.

Hope it sorts itself.

behind my sofa.

Do you live in a modern house? The trouble with new houses with cavity walls and double glazing is that the water moisture in the air has to gather somewhere as people no block up the draughts so air does not circulate. In a modern house there is a good chance the coledst places are behind furniture, you'll be amazed by the amount of mould that grows unknown behind wardrobes etc.

well yeah the house does have double glazing etc. and have been stayigjn at my partners for the last couple of weeks (she had a nasty acident so i been looking after her )
