Update on my computer
For those who read my previous posting here is a followup.
The 2 new computer case fans came today (bequiet, SILENT WINGS 2) and opening up the boxes they came with different fixings and plugs to cover any computer. So good start me thinks, took out the old fans 140mm and installed the new ones, quite easy to do I found. Put it all back together and yes the fans are silent but I had what sounded like a faint electrical hum which wasn't what I expected. Turned out one of the side computer panels was vibrating at quite a high pitch, which sounded exactly like an electrical hum is the best way to explain it.
So I had a rubber thin non slip floor mat so cut off 2 strips and double sided them to the inside of the offending panel, put the panel back and dead silence, can't hear a thing and the computer is about 15 inches from my ear. the rubber strips were enough to stop the vibration without affecting the computer. So maybe a tip for someone.
So who is now a happy chappie????
