I have been having problems with AVG antivirus so decided to take it off my computers. Well its not that easy to remove as they don't provide a removal link. So my advice is don't use it.
I tried removing it and it has been one aweful job, reminants left all over the places. The worst being a "splash" screen which just wouldn't get removed. I even went into "regedit" and removed all of AVG but the splash screen remained.
Even tried system restore thinking that would get rid, but it didn't nor did all other removal tools except one.
So if I may be allowed to highly recommend System Mechanic10 or newer what an amazing bit of kit. As I said before "normal "system restore wouldn't get rid of the splash screen but I went into SM10 system restore and yippee the problem solved. That is just one of the many many features of this program, not one of the normal run of the mill type programs it is what it says a mechanics one not that hard to use but one has to be careful of its features as it is a very powerful tool for a computers protection/fix.
