I have this motherboard

ASUS P5LD2 SE R1.0 i945P Socket 775 6-channel audio ATX Motherboard

I currently have 2gb ram which is this type http://www.ebuyer.com/product/111438

I want to bring it up to 4GB RAM. Cpl of questions

1. Is it possible to buy 2 more 1GB sticks of Ram to add to the motherboard or so I need to buy 2 lots of 2gb

2. Would this http://www.ebuyer.com/product/106114 be suitable RAM to use?

Sorry but I know very little about this sort of thing.

How many spare RAM slots do you have in your motherboard? If you have 2 spare slots, then go for a matched RAM set...as it will use dual channel (like your current stuff probably does) and therefore give better performance, if you only have the one spare slot, then you will just have to get a single 2GB stick.

That RAM should work fine :)
 
1. Yes, but not all boards work well with four sticks. Only way to find out is by trying.
2. possibly. It's better to have matching sticks if you can, it's not unknown to have problems by mixing ram.
 
Go to http://crucial.com/uk and use the Crucial System Scanner tool.

This will analyse your system and recommend upgrades.

I've used crucial memory in a number of PCs and Macs and have found the price is always favourable and the service very good.
 
Even though you put in 4 Gb you system will only let you use just over 3 GB unless you are using vista 64.
 
Remember unless you are using a 64bit version of Windows, the OS will only recognise just over 3Gb of RAM

You will not see a big difference with just 1 extra stick of ram. Yow will need
to update your OP in the future as Microsoft are only supporting XP until 2012
( i think) The only other way is to overclock your pc

Yip, I'll second that.

I recently added 2 gigs RAM using Crucial. Their analysis will tell you what you can add and the improvement you can expect.

You can scan and select and buy what you want there and then. My new memory arrived the following morning.
