Hi

I have a Nikon D90 which I use regular however there are occasions when a compact digital would be more practical.

Are there any current offers on compacts that have raw capability. Would prefere one without the interchangeable lenses. Must have option to change exposure compensation .

Also are there any that do bracketing ? I can do it on my current compact but have to change compensation manually !

Thanks

Karl

I have the Canon S95, that I selected for its raw and exposure bracketing capabilities. In addition to being a truly pocket size compact. Also available are the older S90 and newer S100

Canon G12 if you want a bridge cam, Canon S100 if you're after a point-and-shoot type.

Or earlier models of those two.

I got the Canon G9,money well spent it got me use to everything so then i moved on to the Canon 350D.

The Nikon P7100 is a fairly superior compact which does RAW.

+1 for the Nikon p7100, lovely external controls as has the Fuji X10. Why can't we have a mirrorless camera with a fixed lens of say 24-120mm? We would then have the quality of image and manage to keep the compact external form which disappears on the mirrorless with interchangable lenses once you mount a kit lens on it. A GX1 with the above lens of say f2-2.8 would stay in my pocket forever.

I use a Canon G7, great camera but no RAW. So I would recommend G9 onwards.

Just a thought, I used to have a Samsung V50 which took raw, but it took about 12 secs to save to the card, whereas the jpg was instant. Just check this out in the camera store before you buy! Could drive you mad.

Another vote for the Canon S95 - a great price on Amazon at the moment. I've got an S100 on back-order.

The Canon G series are great but hardly count as a compact, they're full on bridge types.

Another vote for the S95! Love mine, never without it.

Amazed they don't have the Canon S95 or S100 in that, but the Olympus xz-1

Agree, it's not as if the G12 can be classed as a compact.

Fuji x10 here. Purchased for the same reasons as well as full manual controls!

Cracking image quality.

+1 here for the X10 - superb IQ and best handling compact camera I've ever used thanks largely to the 'proper' lens
