What do folk use for budgie spotting and general long lens use on this body?
Seems to be a few out there especially some good deals on the Panasonic 100 300 Micro 4/3rds?

I need one that is relatively light and compact though as that was the main reason for switching from my Nikon to the Olympus.

There's some debate over which is better between the Panasonic 100-300 and the Olympus 75-300. I have the latter and find it quite reasonable, although I've found it's worth backing off slightly from full zoom for the best results. The Oly lens is smaller and lighter than the Panasonic. The other alternative would be the Oly 300/4 prime, but that's getting (a) big, and (b) expensive ;)

...and I forgot the Panasonic 100-400, although (a) and (b) above apply there too...

Thanks Simon that was one of the ones that popped up, I did wonder though about the apature sizing as it was a bit smaller than the Panasonic also.

Yes, the Olympus lens is a fraction of a stop slower but in practical terms that makes very little difference. However it does make the lens smaller than the Panasonic 100-300 which makes it more suited to your stated requirement.
