Hi guys,

I just wondered if there was anyone who might be able to offer some advice?

I'm a figurative artist (oil on canvas) and I work predominately from photographs. I have a portrait sitting arranged with a cellist, for this coming Tuesday, on location in a room I'm not sure of the lighting, so I decided to invest in a Kenro compact studio lighting kit to help me get the best portrait photography possible from which to work. The kit includes two flash heads on stands - one with a soft box and one without. Model lighting options as well as flash lighting.

I have little experience with photography, particularly where using studio lighting is concerned. The digital camera I'm using in a SLR pentax.

I just wondered if anyone could offer a little advice as to what set-up and technique I could use my lighting to the best advantage?

Kind regards

Joanne

Fortunately for you, you're only going to use your photos as reference material, which means that you don't have to worry about getting the lighting right (although, with an artist's eye, you'll probably find that you want to)
