hi folks. just a quick one really

i have a nikon d300s which runs both cf and sd cards

i have the cf selected as first card to store pics. now im not too sure on the quality of the card but i have been out recently capturing star trails using 30 second exposures and they are still taking 30 seconds to process the image. obviously leaving blank bits when stitching.

am i right in saying that if i buy a better quality cf card it will take less time to process images? the quality of my card is pretty low.

If it's taking the camera an additional 30 seconds to process the image then it's more than likely you have long exposure noise reduction turned on......

if i turn this off, will this affect image quality?

Not for your star trail images. The LENR takes a 'dark frame' (an exposure without opening the shutter) which it subtracts from your real exposure. As you've discovered that can be a real pain.

If you're using the startrails.de software then you can take a single dark frame yourself (just take a 30s exposure with the lens cap on at the end of your session) and it will subtract it automatically.
