I would go for Sandisk, but you can get them much cheaper if you hunt around.
The only reason I have chosen SanDisk is because I have heard numeroud complaints about the Kingston Memory Cards.

But go for whichever you feel most confident with.
I have 10GB worth of Sandisks and all of them work perfectly, however you may find someone saying the same bout Kingston

Hi

You may well find that just about any generic CF card would work to your satisfaction.

I have a load of 8gb cards from all sorts of makes and brands, from £80 sandiscs to £10 generics and have never noticed any difference between them.

The only time most people have problems is when they buy counterfit cards, which often don't work at all.

Depends on your usage really, If you are needing uber fast, then Sandisk Extreme III are good IME, but otherwise, I think there isn't much difference, Sandisk seem to have less faults, but personally, as I dont need speed, I'm currently using a Jessops branded one, and you probably can't get worse than that.

7dayshop have got some cracking prices on Dane elec and trancend cards I have just bought 3x 8 gig cards for my holiday so that I have got plenty of back up and both brands have performed well for me, both not much more than a tenner and free p&p !!

If you can find Transcend CF cards and writing speed is of concern to you then I know of no other card that is as fast as the cards they have on offer.
They make 80x, 133x, 266x and 300x speeds. Blows Extreme IV away in terms of write speed.
I also found them to be much cheaper than SanDisk too.

8Gb for a tenner per card?

Well I did say not much more than a tenner, I think one is £11.95 and the other £12.99, still great value . I think the same dane elec card is £59 through a 3rd party on Amazon !!

They seems good value all round, I'll go for one of the Transcend ones I think and see how it goes. Gonna get me the 8GB.

I only ever use Sandisk Ultra II and Extreme III and have never *touches wood* had one fail. Yes a bit more than cheaper brands but I feel it's worth it :)

Gonna place an order on amazon for a card reader and I need another CF card. As iam going to start shooting in RAW.

Whats the best deals going around at the mo?

Marketplace ones are quite likely to be fake, am I right?

Its always a possiblility! Especially with the recent price rises. Amazon could soak it up and use it more as a marketing tool to bring people to Amazon so will keep their prices low. Or they still have old stock pre-increase so get them while you can

I use Sandisk 4GB Extreme IV, next time I might move up to 8GM, but a couple of 4's I find more that adequate.

I was finding my 4GB card ok but I've been wanting to shoot in RAW, and it won't hold too many shots so I'm thinking 8GB would be better, I might try a DaneElec card just to see as its soo cheap.

If you want to shoot a lot of RAW, then I guess 8GB is the way to go

I have used Kingston purchased from 7dayshop and picstop. No problems. I have some Scandisk as well. I cannot discern any difference between the makes. The only ones I have avoided are Lexar because of a known issue some years ago.

Just bought 2 Dane Elec 8gb from 7day. com, Work great,Had a 2gb one for 2 years with no probs.

How much where they Ric?

I would have suggested that Kingston are a better brand than the Dane Elec, I'm thinking about paying the extra for an 8GB 233x Kingston card although I had seriously thought about trying the Dane Elec.
