I'm after a compact/small case for the 70D. Enough to carry the camera and the kit lens and nothing else. Something more discreet than a huge backpack. Am thinking of say the birthday celebration at a restaurant this weekend. Don't want to get food all over the camera.

Any suggestions?

I got a Billingham Hadley Pro as an extra to a camera body I was buying and it's a great bag. All plain black with a couple of pockets and a couple of straps to close it. I've since sold the body on for what I paid for it, but I kept the bag so I'm very pleased with that bit of business (and NO it wasn't to a forum member either). It might be a bit big for just a camera and kit lens but they do smaller ones as well. They aren't cheap but they are very good bags and don't scream out 'look at me, I'm a camera bag'.

Find a small, cheap, ugly padded case that fits the camera and lens.
Find a nice-looking non-camera bag that will take the cheap padded bag with the camera in it.

Have you found a bag? I am struggling to find something that will just take my 70d with 17-55 f2.8

According to my tape measure the Canon 70d and 17-55 f2.8 should just about fit in THIS.
I've ordered one but it hasn't arrived yet - and i'll order my 70d in about a month.
My sisters chap has one for his Canon 600d and kit lens and he seems happy with it.

Yup I bought this: clicky. I tried it in a local camera shop.

I have the 18-135mm kit lens which is longer and hence wouldn't fit snugly in the 45 version. Your 17-55 will be shorter in length and might well fit.

Thanks for all the suggestions, not sure where I went wrong searching for one...

As per the Lowepro site, it looks like the Toploader Zoom 50 AW is for me
