Hi guys.

We're looking to get a new compact camera. Budget is no more than £200, but preferably less.

It doesn't need anything specific but needs to be a good all rounder. It will mainly be used for nights out and quick snaps etc.

I don't know anything about compact cameras so all help will be appreciated.

Cheers, Tom.

The Panasonic TZ range are excellent cameras, the newest TZ10 model has gps but if you dont particularly need gps then the TZ7 is ideal if you can get hold of one. The Canon PowerShot SX210 or any of the Canon Ixus range are pretty good also.

Bought my wife a canon 105 (pink) for Christmas and have been impressed so far, very small and compact, enough features for most daily snaps and only £99

How about a waterproof camera? I just bought (received today actually) a Panasonic FT2 camera to use as my everyday camera for when I don't want to use my DSLR.

Waterproof to 10m
Freezeproof to -10 degrees
Shockproof to 2m
Dustproof

It's pretty much indestructible.

Add to that the usual Lumix quality images using Leica lens and HD movie recording and it's an ideal portable camera. You can take it anywhere without worryoing abouot breaking it.
