Hi guys,

I've been saving Tesco points to convert them to Jessops vouchers - without knowing what to buy.
At the end, I've decided to get a compact camera to have it with me all the time, to avoid carrying my heavy DSLRs for casual snaps.

I have £70 in vouchers, with a total budget of around £200. I don't want to spend MUCH more (can stretch a little) as I would be entering micro 4/3 range and that's not my aim.

My requirements would be:

  • Optical stabilisation (sensor or, preferably, lens based)
  • Aperture, Shutter, Manual modes
  • Good lens and image quality
  • Decent video feature
I'm not interested in 3D photos... I would rather go for hi speed video function.
Don't want super zoom, GPS, waterproof, filters,

I can see that all the main players have some good model in this price range - is there anything you can recommend?

What about the Canon s95? thats pretty cheap these days with a larger sensor than the P300 so I'd guess better image quality.

P300 takes some really nice pics with a nice interface. Despite smaller sensor it handles noise well.

Thanks for the input guys. I have decided to buy Nikon Coolpix P300. Lovely little camera with v.good lens (SHARP f1.8) and great video features. I'm in love ;)
