I'm fancying a new compact, now I've got a Sony ZV1 and the Panasonic TZ80. Both good cameras.... The problem is the TZ80 has the lens range 24-720, but a small sensor and no flash hot shoe. The Sony has a one inch sensor, a hot shoe, but the lens is 24-70.
So what I'm after is a compact with a minimum one inch sensor, a longer lens 24-200 ish and a hot shoe. I've looked at lots online, but I cant find anything with that combination. I can get the sensor and lens easy, but no hot shoe, or I can get a hot shoe but than it's a 24-70 lens. Somebody must have made one... I hope.
Does anybody know of a camera that would fit, I'm after a proper compact not a bridge camera.
Many thanks.

One obvious candidate could be the Panasonic TZ100 or the newer TZ200. These are 1" sensor compacts.

I have a TZ100. I think the zoom range is 25-250mm, the aperture range is rather ho hum but it is a compact camera. I am quite happy with the IQ for a compact camera, it's not as good as MFT but I think much better than a tiny sensor compact.

Thanks Alan. Thats looking about the best option at the moment. Ideally I'd like a flash shoe, but none I've found with the longer lens have the shoe.
Whats the image quality like with the 100? Will it stand a crop now and again.

There's a thread but pictures on here might not tell you much about iq. If you like I could give you some raws to process.

I think you're out of luck unfortunately, Panasonic and Sony are the only ones making long zoom 1in compacts and neither offer a hotshoe.

I’ve been incredibly impressed with the RX100 VII but as you say, no hot shoe. I think it’s maybe been sacrificed as they’ve attempted to squeeze so much into a small body.

I’ve been using a IV variant for a few years, but decided to replace it with a second hand VII which I’ve just taken on holiday along side a Nikon Z7 / 24-200 combo, thus matching the focal length. While the image quality is never going to match a full frame 42mp sensor, it’s certainly good enough. Plus itweighs a fraction of the amount, and a dose of denoise in Lightroom cleans higher ISO pictures up nicely. No use if you need a hot shoe for flash or studio work, but it’s a very, very good camera.

It looks like the RX100II was the last version to have the hotshoe and it was dropped on the mk3 so they could move the onboard flash to the centre and fit an EVF to the side.

I have an RX100m4 and asked on here about people's thoughts on the longer zoom range vs the narrower apertures on the mk6/mk7. I expected it to be split of responses or maybe favouring the 24-70mm lens however I think all the responses favoured the longer lens so I picked up an RX100mk7. After a few months of use I think the advice was spot on as I make much more use of the longer zoom range than I do wide aperture shots. The 1in sensor is a big step down from FF sensors but the raws still have a bit of latitude to work with and crucially, the camera is so small and light there's nothing comparable with the bigger sensor. I keep the RX100 in my jacket pocket so I have it with me all the time so the fair comparison is to my mobile phone and the RX100 is better at wide angles but at telephoto it just wipes the floor against a mobile phone plus I prefer the handling which is easy to use and operate one handed (even with an energetic spaniel on a lead)

Something be aware of with the RX100VII is that it's been caught up with the EU rule changes it seems because it uses micro USB to charge which is no longer allowed so for a while earlier in the year the supply of the mk7's dried up and second hand prices of the mk6 and mk7's went up quite a bit. Sony have now released the RX100VIIA which is the same camera but with a micro USB battery charger and likely in camera charging disabled to get around the restrictions. The camera seems widely available again although I notice they're not marked as VIIA's so not sure if they are the original model or the revised one, I've not been following closely since I bought one.
