Hi everyone

Im looking at getting something more compact for when I'm out and about than my canon dslr, but i still want reasonable image quality, I'm currently looking for suggestions around CSC cameras or perhaps an old Canon g series such as the 9 original.

The camera will also be used by my 8 yr old so I'm not planning on spending loads of money on it in case he drops/loses it..

I had a similar scenario to you a short while back.
I looked at a Canon G9 and almost bought one until a Panasonic LX3 came up for £40 on a local gumtree ad so i settle for that.

Slips in your pocket and shoots RAW so was good for my needs and if my son usesxit and drops it well its only 40 sheets.

Around 50-80 Maarten, will look at the lx3 Stupar cheers

The Panasonic G1 + 14-45 kit lens may be something to consider at approx £100 on eBay. In fact if you want to buy that lens in isolation it will usually cost around £100. I have the 14-45 kit lens and it is pretty good.

Edit - sorry out of budget it seems.

I had the Olympus pen mini a few years ago and didn't really use it, wish I'd kept it now... will look into the g1 as you never know when I bargain might crop up

Fleabay has a cheeky lx3 so will research that more I think, how big have you ever printed from it Stupar?

I got the canon G1X mkii which has a sensor only slightly smaller than a crop. Image quality is very good but zoom range is limited.

Not sure if these are still available though.

Slightly over budget but thanks for the recommendation

In fact I bought a Panasonic LX1 for my kids for £25 a couple of years ago. Great camera for the money but it does not have a viewfinder.

The LX3 is a good suggestion and for slightly more money the LX5 might be an option as well.

theres an x10 from fuji on gumtree that i might be able to get if i can get there…
, anyone used that, ideally as well as the LX3?
