jeez.. 3 pc's in 3 weeks and been on holiday in cornwall in the middle of it.......

bought a desktop, 3 weeks back. it failed on day 1, went back fixed it... worked fine..

yesterday after a 380 mile drive.... trying to upload pics, did it work did it hell?

went to comet, norwich and the till lady read me the comet policy, ummm Sale of Goods act trumps that.... move on... she got snotty, manager offered me three options, best was a full credit note and pick a new pc..........

so I picked a packard bell all singing all dancing...... last night

would it create a recovery disc....... would it hell

went back about 1 pm, the opening offer was £70 off this pc (refund) and we'll backup up windoze to a 32 Gb flash drive.. and when you want something else, ask for me....."darren".........

Had more refunds than can shake a stick at...

Next time build your own, from the sound of it it would be less hassle and you get to pick the components.

You don't get much success shopping do you?

I was looking forward to pictures of a comet when I opened this thread :(

And have to agree with the above, "Build your own"

If I knew how to build one I would!!!!

Hi Lynton,

It is not all that hard to do mate.

If ever you fancy giving it a go just post here and there are a few of us who we would be happy to help and answer any questions you may have.

Take care,

Keith

Indeed,

It's Like putting Lego together these days :)

round peg goes in round hole.
square peg goes in square hole.

HIT IT WITH A HAMMER!

:D

my first ever (intel) PC was a hand-me-down packard bell P60. from that point on all of my owned machines were home builds.. i think it put me off pre-builds :D

I've been telling Lynton to build his own for ages, and even offered to build it for him.....his pathetic reason for going to Comet, was that he couldn't wait for one whole day for the parts to arrive from ebuyer, overclockers etc.....:cuckoo:

I live in hope that one day, he'll listen to/believe me!! :shake:

I'm a girl, and even I build my own.....come on Lynton...strap a pair on dude!!

:exit:

I normally build my own and have done since the early nineties. On my latest purchase though (which included a pre overclocked bundle) Aria offered to put it altogether and stress test it for £25.00.

Couldn't turn it down at that price.

very funny, but i genuinely do not know how to build a pc......... big cojones to those who do.......... and well done... never been taught how to

anyhow this one is behaving...

It's really not that hard, it's very plug and play. Take a look on YouTube for guides if you're interested.

If you can do Lego you can build a pc , I built a few before I bought an iMac , it's really simple, you don't need anyone to show you how it do it, it's pretty obvious where all the bits go

well i have a working one, so i guess i don't need to.... i appreciate all the comments and offers, and I am sure it is apiece of pee....... but i wouldn't have a scooby doo as to how to begin...........

You didn't/don't need to know, as I offered to do it all for you.....but you "couldn't wait"

Building a PC goes a bit like this.....

"Where does this bit go? Well there's only one place it'll fit, so it must go there.....oh yeah, it does go there!"

Seriously, it's that easy......if I can do it, then ANY mug can!!

I honestly think you've slipped up buying a PB machine.....component wise, it'll be the cheapest and nastiest off the of the cheap nasty pile!! :gag:

Maybe but comes with a 2yr warranty and got a very good price in the end...

My last two desktops were built to order by my dealer in South Africa. I suppose it was more expensive than building them myself, but the prices were reasonable compared with anything off the shelf, they guided me on choosing components, and I got what I wanted.

I might try building my own next time, and the thought doesn't spook me at all, but I'd need to do some reading or get advice on what components to order. Haven't a clue about this sort of thing.

The way it was going I thought they were going to be paying you for it

they almost did......

let's say the store didn't make any profit from me..

Take that one apart and build it back the other way around

Well just to buck the trend, I had a PB about 3 PC's back,
it never was any hassle, it just became "outdated" as they all do.
I had it a good couple of years too IIRC
