colours seem all wrong

I wonder if anyone can help, my pc kept bleeping for about an hour, now my monitor colours are all wrong! Photos are way to dark and loss of detail in the shadows Its very odd could my graphics card be busted,
thanks cas

Could be! Do you know how to change your desktop resolution and screen colour depth? First thing I would check.

Gary.

check everything is seated correctly in the motherboard. Sometimes cards can wriggle themselves loose

ensuring its turned off, unplugged and you are hanging onto the chassis with the other hand whilst doing it. Remove and refit the card completely and see if that solves the issue, they can, as walls says, 'creep' sometimes. The bleeping does point towards a hardware problem usually.

oh, of course check the bloody obvious, the monitor cable is secure at either end too.

Surely you mean switch of at the wall but don't unplug? Otherwise touching the chassis would make no odds as the earth has been removed by pulling the cable? Or is the holding onto the chassis for another reason? :)

Nope, I mean hold onto the chassis as it stops the risk of static electricity damage, not the stuff pumped from the plug ;)

But if the cable is out of the wall then the chassis isn't earthed and neither are you of you touch it, if you see what I mean? however if you leave the power cable attached but switched off at the wall then the case has no power but still has an earth connection.

Although it is easy to forget if you have been powering on and off for testing

power off, switch off at wall but don't unplug, then earth yourself on the pooter chassis. To be sure you don't pop anything, disconnect the computer power supply from the motherboard....I think...

does the hardware manager show the card as installed.
