I was on holiday last week, and where every other person had a camera, and mostly DSLRs, two stood out, both Pentax.

Now both owners were Asian, and it may be an eastern thing, but does anyone here have a coloured camera body, or have customised their own camera?

I know Jessops have had exclusive rights to sell silver versions of Canon and Nikon, so there may be a few of them about. ;)

Whatever you have will have to go some to beat this 'special from Pentax.

I had a silver version of the 400d. It was quite nice and I suppose different to the norm. I thought I might have trouble selling it on but no problems at all.

Always black for me from now on:)
 
The Pentax "Lego" (it uses incompatible Japanese Nanoblocks) is a P&S.

I might be tempted by a white dSLR if it had to sit around in the sun a lot.

I read someone who found their brightly coloured camera produced a good response from subjects at weddings etc., but I think that was a P&S.
 
:thinking: Is their any "grey" camera Nikon/Canon bodies about that match their respected "grey" lenses :shrug:

As I have seen the Nikon 70-200 VR in the grey so did Nikon ever do a body to match??

Nikon 35mm cameras used to come in silver or black (black was dearer), but I think they have been black only since DSLR's appeared.

I know that they done a silver Nikon D40 a while back...

Just wondering why they done a grey 70-200 vr... Was it a limited edition or a promo thing :shrug: & why just the lens & not a body to match..
 
I think a DSLR attracts enough attention as it is.

Maybe the red Pentax would confuse the camera hating security guards and PCSO's ?

Nikon stopped doing the silver dslrs because the dealers were finding them harder to get rid of than herpes. The idea behind the white/grey lenses such as the 70-200 VR ( they do several others such as the 300mm f/4 and iirc the 24-70mm too) is that the colour reflects heat rather than absorbing it the way black does, making them more suitable for use in hotter climates.

I hope that you remember to take your watch with you once your done polishing & no slam the bonnet down on it...
 
In an ideal world you would be able to order your camera and lenses in the camo pattern of your choice.

Realtree patterns for wildlife togs/landscape togs, crowd heads camo for sports togs, urban camo for general use/street so the crim's and police would find it harder to spot, Silly face camo for kids portrait togs.

A fart button would also be handy for getting people to turn around and look at the camera when you want to photograph them. :D
 
I looked into the multicoloured pentax a while ago - I thought they'd be excellent for the nurseries and playgroups we photograph...

The multicoloured was a special import from Japan

Yuck ! It's a bit of a tacky gimmick, When they'll stop at 16.8 million colours when all the eye can see :suspect:
 
I'm not a fan of coloured bodies at all. I have a Canon EOS300 35mm that is sliver. It looks oj but I wouldn't want my big 1D in silver.

One exception is Canon white L lenses. I think they look much cooler than the black Nikkor ones! :exit:
 
i had a silver nikon d50, with matching lens... even managed to find a silver 70-300 to go with it. seemed to sell on ebay for more than the black ones.... mind, it was years ago.

Nah, mine looks a little more reserved on the outside. Those Golfs just look like they've had too many donor panels from different scrap yards.
 
Nothing wrong with coloured bodies, some girls are just born with them.
 
I'm a Pentax user (I hasten to add I use the black K-7) but these multicoloured K-X thingies do seem to be a very big hit in Japan. Personally lollipop colours are not my thing but to each their own =). I could imagine they'd be useful in taking pics of small kids though, to make 'em laugh.
 
Thank Gawd the roads aren't filled with "any color as long as it's black" Fords.
