Colour Problems with CS3 + RAW Editor

Hi all,

I have been having colour issues for months now. My workflow constantly involves having to manually set my correct colour for every photo. It all started randomly, I opened a photo as normal in the RAW editor and the photos had a red/orange colour cast to them. However, when photos are viewed in Canon DPP for example, the colours are correct on my monitor. I prefer the CS3 RAW editor, simple as that, it's a quicker workflow for me, with many more options than DPP, but it's useless because it always opens photos now with a colour cast. Here are my current setting for CS3:

Now, when the RAW editor is opened, the colour space is sRGB, with no option to select my monitor profile. Even if I set my colour space to sRGB in the screen above, thus matching the colour spaces, the colour cast still remains.

It's driving me crazy, can anyone help me? Another down side is that all my photos open in 16bit mode, can I default it 8bit mode? 16bit mode seems to block a lot of functions in CS3.

Thanks in advance,

Colin

Try setting it back to a default like euro prepress 3 (I think) or north american general purpose 2 and see what happens then, at the bottom of your raw edtor is blue lettering with options there, whats set in there?

sRGB is set there. If I just select 'open image' it opens the photo without the colour cast.

Also, when uploading to websites, this causes more problems. Most of my shots on flickr are fine, but if I upload the same file to say, Facebook, it uploads them with the colour cast.

What do you have the in camera colour space set to? Your setting of Off for Colour Management Policies looks to be incorrect (mine is set to Preserve Embedded Profiles). At a guess in camera is not sRGB and when you open the file, PS is just taking the raw values and assuming they're sRGB when they are in a different colour space.

When exporting images for web, the #1 rule is ALWAYS export as sRGB.

Try setting PS to a default colourspace, set your camera to srgb and see whats happening then.
Have you viewed the online images with another computer or is it all with the same one.
Finally is your monitor callibrated?

Colour space in camera is set to sRGB. I have changed the colour management properties and still no change.

Colours are the same for web viewed images on other computers.

Monitor hasn't been calibrated, I don't think that's the issue here....

Thanks for the help so far

Hi Colin
I had the same problem very time i openend a photo I had to click on what colour profile I wanted to use. My camara is set to sRGB. Take a look at the picture and see if it helps you. If your setting is on "monitor" then the colour management profiles are grayed out

Thanks.

Problem sorted, the monitor colour profile had been throwing everything off. Removed it, everything back to default and all is well :)
