im also after these on a black background to make it harder

See my PM. I'd say you are wasting your effort as the images will rarely look right.

pm'd you back mate

Hi Nick
Making backgrounds is quite simple, I certainly would not pay for them. It is the extraction of the subjects and changing the lighting on them that is the much more difficult part

care to elaborate abit more about this how would do you go about making the gel effect lighting backgrounds

i think its abit harsh looking at it as a jpg will have to have a play with trying to soften the red rings from the brush

The softening may be down to the compression.

What to do is put the red on its own layer and use gaussian blur over the layer.

Also look at the filter "clouds". this will create a mottled effect.

I like the background you did. Now try and place your kids on it and you'll probably see that it doesn't look quite right - although an artist would probably sod well.

I would say that is actually very good! I can see some jaggies on the arm and feet so maybe smiith the selection a little more but really well done :)

i think that might be the limitations of the camera i have a pentax k100d super its a 6 mp camera with the kit lens on it lol i had to make my son slightly bigger to fill it more

but it could be jaggies

and thanks for the comments :)

Would have been better to make the background smaller! 6Mp is plenty big enough for any print size you would want.

i re edited it today and took it for printing will see what it comes out like ive gone for 12x10
