Hi everyone only me again!!

The new nifty fifty arrived yesterday at last!! and I was able to give it a go today with my friends kids.

Trouble is when i view photos on my camera screen even the bad ones the colour looks normal .

I then bring them into Lightroom and as they appear Lightroom changes the colour of the thumbnail as they enter usually from light to dark.

Now as I am still learning and shooting in raw and still struggling with how the colour should look do you have any of your super tips that might help me get it right .

Someone yesterday suggested a colour card and I did watch the video on how to use it.Also I tried the procedure sent with one of my granddaughters photos but i am not getting this part at all. Can you advise.

Looks like your white balance is off. Is your camera set to Auto White Balance? Open the shot in RAW and have a twiddle on the Temperature slider.

In addition to adjusting the White balance slider in Lightroom, in the Develop module, go down the Right Hand Side and click on Camera Calibration.

Then you can quicly whizz through the following profiles: Adobe Standard, Camera Faithful, Camera Landscape, Camera Neutral, Camera Portrait & Camera standard - and look at the effects on your image.

This can be a nice starting point for your image/s.

If your camera is on Auto WB, 9 times out of 10 changing the WB from "As Shot" to "Auto" will fix it (as recommended by Scott Kelby in his LR4 book). If not, try one of the other "conditions" and see if that is better. If still not good, tweak the temp & tint sliders yourself.

Thank you Les,Rob and Jon.

I have checked my camera it was set to tungsten that may have been the problem.Every picture needing fixing :(

However been into Lightroom and went to Camera Faithful and that has helped a lot at least now they look like they have some decent colour also did a little bit of sliding the toning etc and that helped to.I think there is a huge difference as seen in the ine fixed below and now I will need to go through every picture and set it on Faithful...ARGHH!! well I guess it is all in the training I am so determined not to go back to auto!
Should I be setting the camera to auto or changing it each time depending if I am inside or out.
Thanks to you all away to start colour fixing.

Don't know how far you have got fixing every individual image, but do you know that you can fix them all in one go in LR?

Right click on the image you fixed and select Develop Settings | Copy Settings. You will be presented with a dialogue to choose which settings to copy, just choose the one(s) you fixed.

Then select all the images you need to fix in the Library Module (if they are all together, select the first one and then shift-click the last one, otherwise use Ctr-Click to select each one if they are not consecutive).

Then right click on your selected images, and choose Develop Settings | Paste settings, and it will fix all your images.

HTH.

There is also a simpler way - select all the images that require fixing and the one with correct WB. In develop module choose copy settings button (down to the develop settings panel). In the appeared dialog tick the White balance only and then press ok.

Wow! Thank you so much this is great advice i had no idea about this and it will help me out a lot. I only got half way through them which took me a couple of hours :(

To be honest there is only about 4 I would keep but their mummy will like the others as memory keepers.
I have ordered a cd about Lightroom 3 from eBay so that will help me out wen it comes.

The problem of looking nice in your camera and then getting worse once you put them into Lightroom is because they are RAW files. When you put them into LR you see the true RAW file, which you then have to adjust as you see fit. Your camera takes these RAW files and does it own adjustments to it to show you a nice, bright, contrasty image, but this is not the RAW file you are seeing, but instead it is RAW file + adjustments. You should therefore be able to replicate the camera's adjustment to get them looking the same which it appears your Camera Faithful setting does.

Thank you Alan I get that now. I did wonder it was weird to watch that happen for the first time I was sure they were all going to disappear .
