Colour cast with Hitech ND

Hi just getting into landscape photography and have just bought the Tokina 11-16 :)
And an ND filter to go with it for waterfalls :)
Its the 1.2 4 stop 100mm am using with Tokina 11-16 on a 550D
I am getting a pretty bad magenta cast as shown on the pics:'(

I also have a Kood 3 stop ND (cokin P sized) that I use with Tamron 17-50 and its great no colour problems at all:)

Does anyone else have the same problem ?
I have emailed Hitech and they asked me to send it back for checking which I have done
Are there any other makes that are OK ?
I have been trying to get the Kood 3 stop 100mm one but its out of stock everywhere
the Lee ones look good but are glass and are very expensive
I am accident prone a glass one would not last me 5 mins :D

I have some Grad filters and a 10 stop from Hitech and no real issues with a cast. Must be a bad batch but i'm sure they will sort it for you. The magenta cast is quite noticeable!
 
Can you not get the Lee in resin as well?

Edit. Answer my own question. Yes but not all, some can only be made in glass.

Thanks Andrew good to know that yours are OK, so my problem must be a one off
Yes the cast is pretty bad I tried to get the colours right but could not even tho I took the shots in Raw . Never mind will go back there again anyway:)
I forgot to say that I did get a 2 stop grad from them at the same time and that is fine:)

Thanks Julian did not know that Lee made resin ND's will look into them if I cant get the Hitech sorted
 
I would play around with white balance further. I just tried it quickly on Gimp and can get the filtered images to look very similar to the non-filtered one.

Of course, ideally you wouldn't need to bother but if you don't get anywhere with a replacement, it's worth persevering.

Actually just had a good look and all three of their ND and big stopper are glass only, although the ND graduated are resin.

Ahh would not last long in my hands then, although I have just looked at my Kood 3 stop, it is made from glass but is in a strong looking plastic frame
Maybe there is a reason why the better ones are made from glass

Thanks Graham at least I know that its possible to get the colour right but as you say hopefully they will sort it . :)
 
Sorted they made me another one :)
Not had a chance to try it yet but am sure it will be finevery happy now excellent customer service:)

Did you buy the filter directly from Hiltech as I am experiencing the same thing but purchased mine from there main distributor.

Hi I bought the filter from formatt Hitech assume that they are the manufacturers
give them an email or ring and they will sort you out:)

I had the same problem and returned mine expecting replacements. Instead I received a refund. I know a lot of people rave about the Hitech filters but I wont use them again.
 
I had a really strong blue colour cast on mine too. Sent it back and they replaced it. The new one is much better, only a very slight blue cast.
