Hi, sorry if this isn't in the correct forum, but wasn't sure if it goes under equipment, presentation or PP!

I do all my editing on a MacBook Pro hooked up to a Dell Ultrasharp monitor, and have noticed a big difference in the two displays. I have also viewed my photos from another computer, and noticed that they are also different to both my displays.

95% of my images stay on my computer or on the web, and about 5% get printed. The ones I do get printed I usually send of to Whitewall or similar, and are happy with how they come out.

Question is, how do I get both my monitors to look the same, and how do I get my images to look the same when viewed from other computers. If I post up an image that I'm happy with, it might look terrible on someone else's display:thinking:

The best you can do is ensure your own monitors are calibrated, using a display calibrator, I use Colormunki Photo as I can calibrate my printers with it too.

As you rightly point out they might look loads different on other people's monitors but as that is out of your control the best you can do is set a baseline for yourself and hope your customers monitors aren't way out.

Hi Matty,

ColorMunki Photo has a inbuilt facillity which allows you to add the colour details of a specific image to a 'Colour Pouch' This colour pouch can be sent with the original image and it sets up the colour profile you used on the recipients machine.

Ive never had cause to use it or even tried it out, but I can see it being useful for commercial jobs where absolute colour is required.

Its very simple to use too.
