My first attempt using frontal lighting. I also used another lamp on the eyes. Please any opinions or pointers is more than welcome.
 
Sorry image failed to load and still too small to really tell, but looks good to me. I would have liked a bigger smile though..........



As an aside, lot of people come on here from colleges asking for feed back. Don't the lecturers give any out any more or are the colleges too skint to employ any?
 
Ha Ha stumpy, ofcoarse i have lecturers. They like my work but i also like to get other photographers views on the outside. Big plus. I like being part of talk photography for social reasons. I will try and get a bigger one uploaded but my Flicker wont let me copy the image url when it is open.

College is pretty useless tbh. I was lucky enough second year to be taught by the guy who writes the A level Photography paper that's sent out around the country and he certainly knows what he's doing, although he's got a very marmite character. We had a lot of mutual respect for each other though and I got on with him very well. My tutors this year are next to useless. It's always good to get more opinions though.
 
To be honest thats my impression. There's an old saying "Them that can - Do, Them that Cant - Teach" ! I've found it to be generally true in all walks of life. Only thing is now a days they seem to go straight to teaching with out trying to do. How can you teach with out having done? These more to teaching then getting people passing exams.


Owen, not surprised they like your work. Its very hard to light black well as you seem to have done here. Please keep sharing. Thread title worked as well didn't it? Well at least it got my attention.


Is the Holy Trinity being old, cynical and smelling of wee! :D
 
I have to say the feedback I get from my tutor is very good and detailed, but then I'm doing distance learning and paying for it.

Nothing wrong with coming on here and asking opinions.

When you say frontal lighting - to the model or camera, only there's a big shadow under her arm and possibly a lighter one running down her top. Hard to see in such a small image.
