Hi guys,

I had spoken to quite a few of you guys before starting my course at the start of September and would just like to say so far so good. Loads of the things I wasn't 100% sure about like histograms, blinkies, composition, white balance etc just seem natural now. Still loads and loads to learn but as we're constantly researching and evaluating images it really does allow me to understand easier. I can't post images though until they're all marked but hoping it keeps going like this. Time will tell how useful it'll be to determining whether I'll work as a photographer but I'm more hopeful than ever.

I would like to do a college course as well, I've heard from others that if you take it seriously can gain a lot from it. Just need to find one local to me.
 
I took redundancy after 15 years of office work and have found this very enjoyable. Bit harder than I imagined fitting in college, part time work and family life as we're constantly set assignments but it's been fun hard rather than soul destroying hard. Well worth it so far.
 
Another wee update guys.

Had my first photoshoot with a model yesterday as part as a pressure project. We were set a challenge of recreating a photo that we bind picked in college. Four of us in each team and we'd to source models, set up the shoot etc. It was fun. We had two four hour classes to plan the shoot then take the image.
There was models cancelling on us the morning of the shoot but we'd booked extra in case and it worked well.

Again I can't post pictures till they're marked but it was a steep learning curve. We had a low key image with a large black hat and I think we did really well. It was a two light set up. I now have some numbers for models which is great for future work too.

After we were done recreating the shot we got a chance to break from plain black or white backgrounds and used a bright blue. I really like this too. Actually I much prefer this to black or white.

Photos will come be posted at some stage I promise.
